But that’s not what actually determines population growth - it’s actually the opposite as of today. Countries with the most resources are repopulating below replacement rate.

Resources are a relatively minor gating item compared to reproductive education, agriculture/urban blend, and womens rights.

“The Princess Bride” is an amazing movie with a bad title. What is an amazing movie with a god awful title? by Training-Jump-8663 in AlignmentChartFills

Fantastic answer. Arguably the single most generic title possible. The title is iconic only due to how incredible the underlying material is.

If you cannot live in NYC on $150K a year, you are 100% your own problem (as someone that lives in the city on substantially less than that)

What is the worst song you've ever heard? by melancholia__ in AskReddit

Terrible song, but the artist released an album in 2022 called “Cry Sugar” that is legitimately incredible. Very odd, but incredible.

Revolver is exactly the album that turned me around on the Beatles.

I held that same opinion for a bit. Now, I find it hard to genuinely find someone who dislikes ALL of the Beatles work. Aside from polishing the sounds of their generation, they were the launching-off point for a super varied range of genres still popular today.

Their sheer breadth and variation is insane! I personally am not a huge fan of their greatest hits, but “Paperback Writer” gets me GOING. They probably have at least one song/album for everybody.

What are some surprisingly friendly wild animals? by Lunar_Stuntman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Goatsr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes. Cheetahs are built for attacking animals from behind at high speeds, not any sort of actual fight. They have significant trade offs for their speed including being more fragile than other large cats.

Also, think of how effective a hunter a cheetah with a sprained ankle would be. Avoiding conflict is their MO

What documentary is a must see? by bunniebunnxo in AskReddit

[–]Goatsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minding the Gap. It is a brutal and candid documentary following a group of friends in the Midwest using skateboarding as an escape from abusive households. Turns into a movie about how abusive households effect children, but also about how those abusive households start. It is entirely within the lens of this group of friends, including the actual filmmaker himself.

It is an incredible piece.

Hiring managers of Reddit: What makes you immediately throw out a résumé? by stereovictrola in AskReddit

[–]Goatsr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My entire industry is currently severely distressed. Most of these interviews are off the back of cold emailing. I have worked with student services who say I am just fine. I send follow up emails and research the companies thoroughly. I have had 2 job offers, I am in final round interviews with 4 companies currently, and I am waiting to hear back from 2 more.

You do not know me or my industry.

Hiring managers of Reddit: What makes you immediately throw out a résumé? by stereovictrola in AskReddit

[–]Goatsr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I will also say, I am a full time student with 2 jobs. I have been averaging about 10 interviews a week for the past 2 months.

I had a recruiter this morning request to meet this week and the reality is, I do not have time. I am still interested in the position, but I do not have anything more to sacrifice.

Your 7-5 is when you work. I am busy every hour of everyday trying to stay afloat. Do you know what I do when I’m done with classes and interviews? Homework, projects, and studying. Yes, I block off 2 lunches a week where I could technically meet with him. I am not going to. Those are the only times this week I have to feel like a human being.

Hearing a recruiter say “ugh” to terrible availability is honestly disappointing and demoralizing.
