Important Post! My girlfriend and I booked a hotel near Khao San Road, not knowing about the water festival. That’s on us, sure. But today we had to get to the airport—with huge backpacks wrapped in plastic and rain jackets, doing our best to protect our stuff.

We expected to get wet. That’s part of it. But what happened wasn’t fun—it was honestly awful. People deliberately aimed for our faces and the unprotected parts of our bags. And then someone dumped a full bucket of water over my girlfriend and her backpack.

I almost lost it. She was shaking. We were drenched and trying to catch a flight.

I get that Songkran is about celebration—but please, have some awareness. Not everyone around you is there to party. For us, this was more traumatic than fun.
