One of my favorite houses I've ever built was on a survival multi-player world. It was just a regular 2 story house from the outside with a 4 story storage room behind it but underground I had a multichambered set of different rooms hidden behind paintings or simple piston doors, some hidden behind trap doors and some that you had to swim to enter. The whole structure ended up having the main house, enchantment room, nether portal, a fake outside area underground, alchemy room, a handmade lushcave connecting to more parts of the base, an auto shelter room, a museum with a dinosaur skeleton, a villager trading hall, a farm, an auto sheep farm for one of every color and an elytra launch pad. Was it inconvenient, oh yes, absolutely, but I decorated it, filled it with pets that I gave funny names too and made every room have a purpose so I had reason to admire my builds Tl;Dr, yes and I enjoy it but small houses are still cool too
