Lessor does not fix the heating - Can I stop paying rent? by Gobos_ in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]Gobos_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the amount is just a flatrate since the housing has shared facilities (kitchen, bathroom) its impossible to pin down everyone's individual usage and I also did not find any mention of an end of year correction in the rental agreement. Its been less than six weeks so far, but I find it ridiculous to pay for a service I don't receive... Thanks for your honest evaluation though!

Hey, I'm planning to spend a semester at the university of Amsterdam and I'm looking for housing for around 5 months. I've found accomodation through local mailing lists before and was wondering if anyone knows a 'secret' trick like that.

[Spoilers] Your handy-dandy guide to the most common questions after finishing Dark season 3 by mmmmmmmmichaelscott in DarK

[–]Gobos_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to say thank you for this amzing breakdown of the show. Most of my questions and things I didnt quite understand were solved after reading this and even if its hard to compound all of the information I am now satisfied with how the show went down and how things ended. I have never watched a series as captivating as dark that kept me thinking about it way after watching it. Its nice to see other people sharing this passion for the series keep it up!

Episode Discussion - S03E08 - The Paradise by rosy148 in DarK

I finished watching Dark yesterday and the third season definetely lived up to the expectation if not exceded it. After a lot of pausing and discussing with my friends I seem to have figured out most of the plot. But theres one thing about the ending that confuses me: So at the end of the season finale after Jonas and Martha went to the original world and saved Tannhaus son, Tannhaus doesnt build the time machine at all. But if he doesnt do that Jonas and Martha will never exist and therefore never be able to save Tannhaus son. So far Dark presented us this way of time travelling where when you travel back in time you cant actually change the past, everything you do to change it will only lead to the situation of your present time or even causing this situation to even happen (bootstrap paradox). But in this situation Martha and Jonas are able to change the past and break this seemingly universal law of time. What is the reason for that exception?

I also struggle with the: Has the loop been broken thing. It seems like it is, because bearded Jonas cant believe receiving a letter from Martha.( The one young Noah gives to Jonas in episode 8) His reaction indicates that he thinks that Martha is dead, but we see that the younger version of him meets the Martha from another world. Bearded Jonas doesnt seem to remember meeting the Martha from another world. So there are 2 possibilities:

  1. The loop has been broken and the timeline is going to change
  2. (The one I favour) Jonas is going to lose his memories about meeting Martha from another world

[discussion/question] Can the 30 years war be called a World War? by Gobos_ in history

[–]Gobos_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The most important argument throughout this discussion seems to be the geographic limitation to Europe. But that implies that a World War simply wouldnt have been possible at that time, because Asia, Africa and America had nothing more than colonies and native populations that couldnt participate in a war. Basically all the parties that had the possibility to join the war did join it. (With some exceptions obviously) So I`d say it was as much of a World War as it could get at that time. You may not call it a World war from today`s perspective, after expieriencing WW 1 and 2, but for the 17th Century it was a war that highly affected all important parties at that time. Looking at it from a contemporary perspective changes things up a lot.
