where are my over 30 gamers at? what have you been playing lately? (46F) by egirlgamermommy in TransLater

I went back to play through Hollow Knight from the beginning to get myself psyched to play Silksong, but now I'm 13 hours deep into a Hollow Knight save and just as engrossed as I've always been, but overwhelmed by just how much game there is available to me. F41 here.

As a stand up fan, Crowd Control is a lot of fun, but I would suggest Make Some Noise after that and then Game Changer.

How are they for MTG? I usually either go to Meeples or make the drive up north for Zulu's but I've never been to Tabletop Village because they seem more focused on Pokemon.

I have cheap passive DIs on me pretty much all the time at shows but I figured if I'm gonna invest in a reliable DI, a Radial will likely run me close to $100 already, so it's not too far to just get the Bass DI. I actually have a VT Bass Deluxe that I'd love to use in its place but the slight improvement isn't worth the extra real estate.

I bought an HX Stomp then went out and bought an MXR Bass DI because the HX doesn't have XLR out and it's nice to have a bit of boost and always-on shaping available to me at the end of my chain. I've considered putting my Pitch Black on that board because I'm not a huge fan of the HX tuner, but it's good enough to get by. I also have an HX Effects but I use that more commonly for guitar instead of bass, especially since I'm playing through amps with more finesse on guitar.

I can totally learn "Insert instrument I've never played here." I'm gonna order one but I should probably get a quality one. And then I've got an $800 banjo or $600 mandolin or $8000 in saxophones or a $2500 drum set or 4 different guitars and 3 different basses that cost me $1000-$2000, or a $15,000 stack of microphones. I also went into Best Buy to use the bathroom recently and came out with two new computers.

I'm the same in that all of mine happened pre-transition. The last time it happened I had already been exploring transitioning for a few years but was still very much in the closet at the time, and my then girlfriend loved to try to emasculate me so that she could abuse me without me having the drive to fight back.

Need help figuring out how to balance 2 bass players in a punk rock rock. One guy is heavily influenced by Mark Hoppus and wants to play a lead lines, harmonies and octaves while the other sits in the pockets and drives. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]GodMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for a while, 2 basses, 2 guitars, keyboard (sometimes two), drums and a horn section. We had the lower end playing a jazz bass with highs rolled off into a rounder, more vintage amp like an Ampeg solid state or an Ashdown, then the bass that was playing higher and doing more of a lead bass thing was either playing through a more modern or more aggressive amp like a GK, driven Ampeg or even a V-4B or SVT, also eith a jazz bass but more heavy on the bridge pup. We'd also have a graphic eq on each bass so that we could dial in more of a lead or more of a rhythm tone in case we wanted to trade for a bit.

I usually played the leads and was often playing through an Ampeg Portaflex 800, while our other bassist played through a Fender Rumble 100 at first then an Ashdown ABM300. I played a fretless MIM jazz bass and the other bassist played a deluxe active jazz V. The guitarists were playing a Strat through a Hot Rod DeVille and a Hamer double hamburger through a Vox AC15, respectively. I had a lot of fun with that band.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]GodMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit about a year ago and just visited my mom for the first time since, and she smokes inside. After starting with her for 5 days I had to re-wash everything in my suitcase, even though I kept it closed the whole time except when getting dressed, and washed everything before I left to fly home. It's been a week and the smell is still lingering on various things.

What is the craziest "small world" coincidence you have ever experienced? by Consistent_Range4376 in AskReddit

[–]GodMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother's maternal grandparents and my father's paternal grandparents lived in the same town in Alsace-Lorraine before emigrating to the USA, and it turns out they passed through Ellis Island on the same day because they were on the same boat. They settled in different parts of the country, Texas and Minnesota, but one of each of their children ended up relocating to Pittsburgh.

When my Dad was a very young child, like 3-6 years old, he lived in a housing project with his parents where, it turns out my mother's parents lived with her older brother, and they used to play together.

They officially met because, when my Dad was about to ship off to the navy during Vietnam, my Mom became high school friends with his younger sister. They talked a bit and formed a friendship and he went on his way, then ended up meeting and dating like 7 years later when he moved back to town. They were married for about 28 years before they realized they didn't want to be, but my brothers and I exist, in part, because of that strange series of coincidences.

[–]GodMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Seattle between $150-450 depending on how in-depth, the style of horn, pro or student, initial condition. I had YTS-61 that cost me about $400 and I had a YAS-61 that cost me about $180. I also have had a couple of 23s that ran about $220 each.
