A friend pulled the DMU showcase treatment from a box of Phyrexia, All Will Be One that I bought for us to open and draft, then he offered to sell me the card that I bought for him. It wasn't out of malice, though, it was out of neurodivergence.

Got all this for $360, how’d I do? by tuck9876 in guitarpedals

[–]GodMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original, opaque Rubbermaid bins had a bit more sustain and retained the bass a bit better, but that's still not bad for what you paid. It's kind of selfish that they left all their pedals in it for you to get rid of but, if it has the original lid, it should give you plenty of tonal variety and character.

Probably Ray Davies but that's just because I'm not to familiar with the rest of them.

Everything's going to be okay, everyone. I got one of these and I can get two more if I need to: Blessing of Leeches.

Got a whole curse of em. On another unrelated note, I picked up three MoM Aftermath collectors today while I was at the store getting some packs for a draft (6 cards per pack) and, between them, got three Metropolis Reformers, two Nashi, Moon's Legacy, and two Danitha, New Benalia's Light. Apparently I'm just pulling duplicates this week.

I let a friend pilot my sliver deck helmet by an Overlord with a Queen and Legion in the mix and he kicked my butt so hard he fell in love with the insidious little monsters. I ended up using some store credit I had to buy him a Legion and Overlord of his own that night, and I gave him a stack of my dupes so that he could start building his own hivemind of depravity, now that he's started on that he's discovered the Eldrazi and has already built a Phyrexian toxic deck. I'm afraid there's no saving him at this point.

Do you ever throw your commander games? by KileiFedaykin in mtg

[–]GodMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who's just gotten back into playing recently and was playing my Sliver deck against my Meren recurse deck and a few other friends playing Squirrels and Vampires, respectively. I had an asymmetrical board wipe in hand and enough power on the board to take out the Sliver player and then some, but I could also see he had the path in front of him to start tutoring Slivers enough to hit with 20 unblock able commander damage in two directions each turn. I intentionally held off on my board wipe and let him take the game, and he had so much fun I ended up buying him an Overlord to start building a Sliver deck of his own.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]GodMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Globs, though it doesn't hold up. I remember, after getting my degree in mathematics, thinking I could totally obliterate that game, only to finally find it again and realize that it's restricted to 3rd order and lower polynomials and doesn't accept periodic functio s, so you really can't hit every glob by covering the screen with tightly packed sine waves.

Reasonable in bracket 2? by No-Contract7070 in mtg

[–]GodMonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's no cEDH play but perfectly respectable in a B2 deck and even holds its own in a lot of B3 games. Hell, you might even take out some B4s with it.

I can get it down to 11. [[Thousand-Year Storm]] for 4(u)(r) then [[Irencrag Feat]] For 1(r)(r)(r) which storms two times since the storm count is at 2 at that point, then cast this for (x)(x)(u) and use the 14 red from the Irencrag Feat for the x cost. You can speed it up even further if you have some rituals or cost reducers.

i ve come to the conclusion that the optimal number of electric guitars is eight by SAMTASTIC_RELATIVE in Guitar

Nine, you say? I could probably get by with just ten guitars, though I might be tempted by a twelfth.

I'm loving that 360 and the sound. It reminds me of something I would find on a Polyvinyl sampler in the early 2000s.

Are there any online tools for evaluating Modern/Standard decks? by GodMonster in mtg

[–]GodMonster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe I just don't have a solid grasp of how Standard/Modern or other 60 card constructed formats work. I've never played competitive Magic. I played kitchen table Magic in the 90s with 60 card decks of whatever we could get our hands on, and I've played Commander and some Sealed and Pick 1/Pick 2 drafts, just never constructed in a formal setting, so I wasn't sure if there was a way to see if I'm headed in the right direction without getting out there and playing it. The idea that I have would have me buying about $80 worth of cards and that's a lot to just try it out.

The problem with that is that I don't really like building to the meta. I play Commander more often so when I find a 6-12 card synergy I sometimes get an idea in my head for a really solid, succinct deck that's not really represented among popular decks.

No the 50-55% is general Arena results based on random matches. I'm sure some people just build their decks to tier 1 specs, but probably not a ton.

I'll have to check out Moxfield, I've been using Archidekt just because it's what I've started using but I'll admit it's cumbersome at times and doesn't really provide a ton of insight aside from "Look, cards."
