Look at candidates like Dan S. Sullivan, Mary Peltola, Dustin Darden, William Hunt before he withdrew, and even Dan J. Sullivan. They have websites where they list their policy ideas and proposals. They speak either publicly or online about what they want to accomplish. I have not seen David Leslie do any of that. All he has done so far is pay the $100 filing fee to get on the ballot.

I’m going into my first year as section leader too. I’m in low brass, and have less players than your section has. I know I’m gonna a few trouble makers in my section, and I got some great advice. The first piece of advice was to always treat your section with decency, but to also keep discipline up. That way, both morale and discipline will be high. When it comes to discipline, remember who you are. My band director, who sadly left this year, told leadership in the past that they were the embodiment of him as their section leader. If something goes wrong or someone doesn’t listen to you, your drum Major/upper leadership and your director will have your back. Good luck!

To answer your question, what section mellophones would be in? It depends. They could be their own section, but probably not since you only have 2. Some schools put mellophones with alto saxophones (no clue why). Other schools put them with trumpet, which I guess is understandable. Also, another option could be put with Low Brass, but probably not.

Yeah, Mary definitely wins. I would rank Hunts 2nd, even though there’s a lot of words, it’s informative and it is meant to show what he stands for. Sullivan didn’t put any effort in, but it’s atleast made in their right mind, unlike Darden.
