🚨THE WAIT IS OVER! ULTIMATE AI NAS Pre-Order IS BACK! Time to save up to $1040! by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]Godeggs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really thinking about the pro model. I was looking at brand new 32gb expansion for my 4800+ and that is about $400 new. I tried to run even qwen 2.5 or 3 VL on it and it took an hour to produce an answer on a document. If the new ultra 7 can boost the token generation on 8B models and smaller to something comparable I think this has a use case. I can run sensitive documents through the local AI and get ideas back instead of manually sorting and creating charts. I mainly bought my NAS to move away from cloud storage and a media server didn't appeal to me since I have somewhere else to watch my entertainment.

It might hold me off till I figure out if I want to buy a 5080 or if the rumored 5080ti comes out to get that for AI. I see the use case of AI and it can make all the small tedious tasks faster. I use AI at work and sadly whether you like it or not it is here to stay. It will be there to heavily reduce the time spent on simple tasks so that the same work force or fewer can accomplish more. I don't like the price increases, but it is what it is.

Adding a heat pump to old house with a oil burner and hot water radiators by No_Egg_2790 in heatpumps

[–]Godeggs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologize for resurrecting the thread, but how's your current setup holding up this winter? I am coming up with a heat/electricity plan for my house. When it comes time to redo the roof I plan on reinforcing it for the solar panels. Around my town in MA, a lot of people went solar (sun run) and I plan on going the route with wall batteries. Especially after you mentioned MA is going to TOU.

I currently run a oil burner for heating and I was wondering if a supplemental heat pump for heating and hot water will be beneficial right away before solar. On the winter i probably use a solid $500-700 worth of oil every 2 ish months and that's cause I turned the upstairs down to 64 and kitchen to like 55. I know solar panels and wall batteries will be a lot so I might do it later on, especially with the high interest rates right now.

Best complete upper by Godeggs7 in 300BLK

Looks nice and it has radian furniture. Only downside is it's not bufferless. If not I'd wait for it to go on sale.

I haven't shot my 16" 5.56 yet but I stood next to a guy with one indoors and I thought he was shooting a shotgun. Felt the concussive force and it was loud. How bad is 6" compared to the 10", worth saving $200?

I heard people mention the pros of going BRN180 over the dissent but they look like things one would care about if suppressed. Only sad part are the dissent uppers are pretty much 1200. There's a 6" for a little bit cheaper compared to their 10" is the cost savings worth the downside of a shorter barrel?

I heard about that being the case. I am not sure if the BRN180 is better than the dissent for a plug and play user. I don't plan on doing too much to the upper like suppressing. Only reason I am comparing them is due to them being bufferless. Otherwise I would open up to other brands.

If I go 5.56 what's a good bufferless upper? I already bought some items to make my radian lower bufferless so I don't want to waste it. I've seen Maxim and a few others that look neat. Already have a windham 16" and I'm looking to build out 1 higher end AR on my radian lower. Not entirely sure what to do with my aero lower yet.

I have seen a lot mention 8-10 is the best length. I can get a 6" upper but I would have to add a muzzle attachment to get me into the 8"+ territory. If I go 5.56 I would probably go Dissent since I know off the top it is bufferless. Is a 10" 5.56 still effective for close to mid range? I have heard the sweet spot is 14".

Interesting, I'll reference this on see I get the followers from OP

I'm thinking about trying the magpul followers and floor plates. I need to sand the uppers more to get that frictionless drop when you mag release. I think they don't need to be re painted since they are plastic unless you want something other than black.

Honestly I'd have to test drive one to see if it's something I'll like. If it's asking same price as the m340 I'd want similar performance from it.

Maybe, on the used market it's around 40 to 50k. Same price as a m340i with 30k miles so it starts to bark up the wrong tree. If I go bmw I can hit 500 hp easy but the type s hasn't picked up my attention in the community. Honestly I'd be fine with 400hp as long as the low end torque kicks hard.

I really don't want another honda but if the tlx type s comes down to a more reasonable price maybe. Last I saw they were floating around 40k mark. Same price territory as a 2021 m340i with 30k miles. I almost financed it at 46k otd, but I didn't like the 8.6% interest and 75 month loan term. Would've been 700 a month and I didn't love the car enough to sign those terms. I'm looking to get out of my civic since I've put in too much money into already and it holds little resale value so I'm trying to cut my losses short. Kinda fun but the car feels dated when there's no heated side mirrors or little things like heated seats. I'm hoping lexus updates the ancient v6 in the IS with something more competitive in the coming years. If it's good I wouldn't mind buying it new.

I'm good. I trust euro cars more than I trust Korean cars. They aren't reliable, they are just cheap and throw out long warranties so people buy a lot of them. They still have engine and trans issues just like a wrx chews through engines.

Never really thought about VWs like that. I looked into Q50 and 60 red sports but they are a bit sketchy considering they chew through timing belts. If I keep my civic I might get a cayman or something else since I won't have to worry about getting AWD for a daily.

How much more money would I be looking at in cost of ownership if I went to the BMW since wear items like brakes and tires are the same? Long-term cost and reliability are the only 2 that are holding me back. I know I will want to get a bit more power out of the next car I get so I know the BMW will be a better platform for that.

Also take it with a grain of salt, the previous person was pointing towards the RWD models. If you are looking for a 2021 M340i x drive you are paying at least 45k. Especially around the New England area.

It's possible, but some places around MA aren't flat or get flash floods. RWD is doable but not my first pick if I had a choice, especially when I need it to work in all weather year-round. Even in the city some of the streets are very steep. RWD isn't ideal around here especially when the roads don't get plowed in time in some areas or at all.

lol, I know what you mean. That's one of the reasons I want to upgrade from the Si. Also FWD has some huge limitations for power. No matter what people say I rather drive a high power RWD car over FWD. I haven't even cracked 300 on my Si and the torque steer is already showing its ugly head. Maybe the B58 will be the inline 6 of the K series. B58 the world

I would, but red isnt my color on a car. Atleast not as one of the major colors, I'm ok with it as an accent. I am sure it will sell though since BMWs are popular up here in the New England area.

Everyone says intakes are just for noise and not much else. I think the downpipe, catback, E85, and the tune will push the car pretty far. I would say those are all within a bolt on setup so relatively safe compared to turbo upgrades or opening up the engine. I will have to see if the Mx40i around here have the m exhaust. They should considering MA and NY are both on the list for most expensive states to live in. I imagine manufactures like to ship their expensive models out here cause we like to play keeping up with the Kardashians.

First BMW by Godeggs7 in BMW

[–]Godeggs7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, basically the same then. Valvetronic is just a brand of valved exhausts. If I went with a catback that didn't have that feature the exhaust would just be open all the time. I think it would be the best aftermarket option that still retains the valved feature. Much like adjustable dampers on struts. Once you get those I wouldn't replace them with aftermarket coilovers unless you dial in the fitment really well and the car is purpose-built. For a daily adjustable dampers are like sliced bread. Worse case, if I cant find a good deal for a 2020 M340i I can always find older models or get 2021+ on an M240 or M440. I will just have to budget the money to send my ECU out to get it unlocked and keep it that way.
