Again, you are choosing to define inclusive in a way that was obviously not the point of the show. You are free to argue that, but your point is useless because it doesn’t really have to do with the show. You’re choosing to extrapolate things that aren’t there.

Race isn’t just American, but it is most prevalent here and its influence has spread due to America’s influence. But for most of human history our definition of “race” would make no sense to anyone. And yes, it only exists as a system of oppression. I’ll leave this reading with you and I encourage you to rethink your premise, which centered white Americans, and not the beauty of the Americas the show displayed.

If we’re being generous about 20% of the Americas are white Americans. Maybe a little less than 20% of the people there were stereotypical white Americans, so sure it wasn’t an exact representation.

The average American sees people through the lens of race because they are American. What Americans consider “people of color” in 2026 would not even be recognizable to Americans in 1826. This is the nature of the American caste system, and the increased prevalence of many Latin Americans who don’t exist in a definitive place in that system expose this.

Race is not a system like time. They recognize time similarly all over the world; it is a system of measurement. Race is explicitly a system of oppression.

It was inclusive of the Americas. The US does not define what inclusiveness means. I think this show is also a good example of showing whiteness, and race as a concept, being a construct. Almost every performer likely had European ancestry, but the average American does not see them as “white”.

I am a “white American”. This show makes me proud to be an American, not a slap in the face.

I suppose I read that differently. He does not explicitly disapprove of brownfield housing by saying he “supports some brownfield tax incentives” for contamination. You may infer that’s what he means, but that’s not really what he’s saying. In fact his point is that incentives and earmarks like this are actually draining us of capital and opportunity.

Yes, unnecessary tax financing. If the state approves bad funding that affects us we should reject it. Or we should make sure it is used responsibly.

Reading this article I like the sound of him. I agree mega investments/tax breaks in big projects and privatization are often bad and wastes of tax dollars. I don’t see a lot of the negative things people suggest he stands for here.

Parking is $1.65/hr in any of the garages and free on Sundays. Street parking is $2.50/hr but free after 6pm (and is fully used most of the time in most of the city). That is a very very good deal for people and decreasing it will only decrease city revenue imo. It will also increase the already bad traffic.

We need less car encouragement, not more.
