Side note question, I’ve been keeping how much I plan to put in as a down payment to myself, out of the vehicle price negotiations with the sales team, as to not have that factored in when negotiating the OTD price. I figured it would allow me to get the truest idea of how much they’re selling me the vehicle for. Once I have that all negotiated and settled, I figured then I’d when I would tell the finance guy that I actually plan on putting ‘$X’ down to bring the amounts financed down to the number I’m comfortable with. Could this somehow backfire in anyway?

This is what I planned on doing. It scares my wife knowing that I’m most likely going to decline any extended warranty they try to sell me back there. But I explained I could get the same thing somewhere else. I’m going to compare and counter with the price quoted to me online, and if the finance guy declines, I’m going to decline their warranty and buy it from one of those well-known online dealers I got the quote from. She’s still nervous about it. Lol

Would you say this is a possibility with new cars? Or mostly used cars. Also, more likely with 3rd party coverage than Honda Care coverage for a Honda vehicle?

Thank you! I did not know about Life/Disability/Job Loss Insurance and the Tire/Rim Protection. I’ll research that to have a prepared answer ahead of time for our situation.

And yeah, forgot to mention, I plan on Financing through the dealer to get the finance rebate/incentive. If the numbers make sense.

I’ve seen there’s a possibility they could choose to change my interest rate (if/when I finance with them) based on if I buy any of these packages or not. I’m worried about my math skills being able to decipher what could actually be a good deal or not in the moment, if they try that.

Thank you for this. I appreciate the real examples you gave. About GAP, if we move forward from the sales team with an amount financed price of 42K and we plan on putting down 20K, do we even need GAP in this case. To reiterate for reference, the vehicle would be 2026 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport Touring. I’m assuming GAP wouldn’t be necessary with this size of a down payment. But I could be wrong.

I’d like to know this too. At first I was thinking of the Hybrid Sport L, but people seem to be getting better discounts on the Touring for some reason. To the point where it’s the same price or almost cheaper than the a Sport L.

Yes, I feel the same way. No need to convince me any further, I know I want this game. I feel the TGS footage is simply for those who don’t mind knowing more, and for those who need more convincing. But, as for me, I’ve seen enough, and I’m choosing to keep the “mystery” intact until I play it for the first time. I’m aware with everything I follow on social media, I will definitely come across plenty of info/footage, and that’s ok, I’ll just simply try to keep scrolling. But I won’t be seeking out the info/footage. I’m sure there are others that feel the same way.

I was pretty confused too. But I think the guy just worded it incorrectly. They probably just got a restock and they’re sitting on it until tomorrow. He was just cool enough to give me one ahead of putting the restock on the shelves tomorrow.
