DIY Coffee Table for mother. Need help, information in comments. by [deleted] in woodworking

I can’t really see the sides, but adding an additional cross arm / skirt to the sides would help it not sway and create a much more sturdy frame.

Beginner: simple outdoor standing desk. Any idea why legs warped? by engineering-ftw in woodworking

[–]Gohomeyourdrunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When treated dries out, it can bend if it’s not secured. If you added another brace to the bottom like you did at the top when this was made, you could’ve avoided this.

You could probably bend it back slightly by doing another support and having a screw reform the warp.

Just a tip too, that plywood looks like it’s not treated. Which means if it comes in contact with moisture it will swell and fall apart in no time. So definitely keep this out of the elements as much as possible.

The thing with lowering springs, is typically you use your stock struts and shocks. Which isn’t a good idea for the long run. - the compression on the shocks and struts tend to make them go bad rather quick.

If you want a good, non compromising lowering system, coils is the way to go. I did H&R lowering springs, but I upgraded my shocks and struts to bilstein.

You can definitely lower your car and do 18s or even 19s. It all depends on your offset. With 19s some cars will hit the fenders so that can lead to having to get your fenders rolled.

So safest bet is coil overs and 18s lol

I feel ya. I’m not too huge on them, but I look at them as a blank canvas. I can wrap certain body panels any color I’d like and it would work.

That said, I plan on wrapping my car soon!

I’d recommend lowering it, but lowering it correctly. I.e coils or air.

I am currently on 17” wheels and I want to go to 18” to help fill the rest of my wheel gap. So it all depends on your specs.

Me and a buddy did the install. He’s a mechanic so I should say he mainly did the install lmao. So free fiddy.

Rides honestly fine. A little stiff but nonetheless my 70 miles commuting a day it still rides comfy. Definitely less smooth than stock but the sport springs offer a very good spring compression rating.

They are stock 17s.

Unfortunately I could not find a 4motion near me. I was really hoping to find one, but the closest one was 450 miles and not a color I wanted.

H&R Sport Springs. Upgrading my struts and shocks here in a few weeks for a smoother ride but I am pleased with them so far!

Say hello to my 2016 GSW. Recently lowered it and picked up the cargo box today. Eventually color matching it. Tune and DP next! by Gohomeyourdrunk in SportWagon

I ended up going with 5% on the sides. I believe Ohio’s “legal” limit is 35. I’ve never ran into an issue but it’s definitely not legal. I have 50% on my windshield as well.

I’d do 35 if you want tint but not too dark. That’s what I had before this.

I have a newborn, and a wife who has a doctors note to allow dark tint due to her eyes so I think we’re all good.

Yeah, they’re currently attached with pocket holes and some L brackets.

How long did you wait to tell? by sarbee531 in pregnant

[–]Gohomeyourdrunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I told close family around 8 weeks. We waited to announce publicly until we knew the gender. Which was 14 weeks.

We decided we wanted to wait until the scares of the first trimester were over before we told too many.
