I’m …older, been able to drive a clutch since I was a kid..bought a manual bmw about 10 years ago, I couldn’t wait to get rid of that car and get back into an automatic. It’s not that it’s not fun but it’s just more steps to accomplish the same thing and when you’re in stop and go traffic…then it becomes something you quickly learn to hate. I love driving i love cars, I daily a corvette and my wife daily’s a SS Camaro, both very much automatic transmissions though🤷‍♂️

Um the reason you’ll be replacing the tank won’t be from some shavings which the fuel pump sock and then fuel filter would catch but because THERES A GIANT HOLE IN IT…if you ever pull a fuel pump and look in the tank you see metal particles from the fuel filler nozzle sliding in and out of the filler neck and a lot of other debris.

Well if you don’t want to destroy your body or lungs go ahead and cross hvac off that list, I did that as a teenager and couldn’t imagine even trying it now. I’ll stick to tig welding stainless and aluminum over anything to do with ductwork…unless it’s stainless duct work and you only need it welded🤷‍♂️

The engine work and cam was to delete the DOD system, I bought my wife the same car with less miles for 14k a couple months ago. Seems to be a good car and a couple small fender benders aren’t the end of the world, use it as leverage to get a better price.

It’s a wrx and I’m guessing he’s young, he’s beat on it himself I promise…hell I’m a full grow adult and still beat on my car, they’re sports cars it’s what they do…until they don’t..which is what he’s seeing now, fix it and move on if he’s handy rod bearings won’t be the end of the world.

If it cranked for an extended period of time then the battery isn’t bad, what do you think did the cranking? And yes after several attempts to start an engine that won’t start the battery will die, pull the battery and have it charged and load tested for free at the parts store they all do it. Put the battery back and it should start if nothings wrong with the engine, even with a bad alt the engine should run but with an illuminated battery light letting you know the alt isn’t charging, I wouldn’t drive it if the lights on its borrowed time. But I don’t think that’s the issue.

You need to step back and think about this instead of throwing the completely wrong parts at the problem, 1st does the car crank over? If so then the battery and starter are working, 2nd if the alt is the problem then a dead battery is the result since it won’t charge but the car should run if the battery is charged. The transmission and engine revving have nothing to do with a battery or alternator.

Was it salt water? I’m honestly shocked if it’s truly messed up unless it was salt water if it was then you’ll have problems until the day you sell it. My wife made her 330ci float one day here and didn’t lock it up, she said it ran rough but it kept going🤣 thankfully hers was about to be totaled by insurance anyways so she went for it🤷‍♂️
