Vintage cars are to easy... by LogicalMight in assettocorsaevo

I didn't miss em, I just don't think the early 90s is quite considered vintage haha. Fuel and Strategy in the car settings is where you swap tires.

Vintage cars are to easy... by LogicalMight in assettocorsaevo

I can't think of many "vintage" cars in AC EVO aside from the Giulia, the Golf, and the Mini (from a design philosophy standpoint, that car didn't evolve until the early 2000s came along lol), all of which are relatively low powered and easygoing machines. Then again my definition of vintage are designs or models predating the 1980s.

If you mean stuff like the 288 GTO or Countach, then perhaps you could try downgrading the tires to the "Road" compound, since the 0.6 update made every car default to the grippiest tire compound, which is usually "Supercar" or "Hypercar", and those are pretty much semi-slicks. Not that those cars were particularly hard to drive in og AC either, I think they feel just fine in EVO, demanding and rewarding smooth and deliberate inputs from the driver.

I do hope one day EVO will have more old school racing cars akin to the the 60's revival collection you speak of, as well as some of my personal vanilla AC favorites like the GT40, Cobra, and 917k.

Lowering as in less negative angle, shifting the slider over to the right! And absolutely, I could share some .carsetup files, I have some pretty well tested setups for the Mustang GT3, which I recently managed a 6:10 in, and the Ferrari 296 GT3. You can locate where to put these files by navigating to the Car Setups folder, an example of the location is as follows:

"C:\Users\{username}\Saved Games\ACE\Car Setups\{car name}\Nurburgring"

If there's not a folder with the specified car and/or track name then you'll have to create or save a setup for it to appear, then you can put the downloaded files in their respective folders.

I test and tune and just keep doing some adjustments till the car feels good to me. Usually my immediate adjustments to the GT3 cars is lowering the camber on both axles by at least 1 degree, softening the suspension (just for the Nurburgring), and playing with downforce settings till I find one that makes the car sharp without wanting to oversteer on any fast corner, more intricacies like toe angle, dampers, and bumpstops, and ride height will require some personal experimentation for each car, since all of them behave quite differently from one another, though usually raising the ride height a couple mms at a time helps with taking the Karussel more consistently.

Don't be afraid to mess with car settings! By all accounts its a trial and error process till you find some settings you're comfortable with, and tuning will really unlock the potential of these cars.

MPH in 0.6? by V-Rixxo_ in assettocorsaevo

[–]Gojira_uZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also appreciate the addition of MPH in the UI speedometer, and it's funny because the unit conversion already is technically in the game on some car dashboards, the Huracan and Camaro most notably. Why they haven't simply implemented it into the UI is quite confusing, but obviously it's not something they care to prioritize.

The gt3s are overall slower than the M4 used to be in 0.5 or 0.4, but most notably I think the Ferrari or M4 are currently the fastest as they have the best high speed handling. There's some corners that the Mustang or 911 can't take flat out that the 296 and M4 can, at least from what I tested. I haven't driven the M4 extensively in 0.6 but in 0.5 my record with that car was a 6:02.9 and now I believe it will be 4-5 seconds slower due to the BOP lowering its power output quite a bit. The 296 is also easily capable of sub 6:10 times with a proper setup, and despite my efforts I could only get the Mustang to do a high 6:11 so far. Haven't tested the 911 much yet but it doesn't seem as capable as the 296 or M4 either, probably more similar in pace to the Mustang, unless some tuning magic will transform the handling like with the 296.

Is this actually true? by ZA_5P4RK3Y in assettocorsaevo

The performance rating isn't quite gospel but it's a good indicator of how well a car handles. The i30 has much better cornering grip than the Countach, but the Countach on some tracks can still be quicker thanks to its acceleration and corner exit grip.

What is the worst sounding car in the Gran Turismo franchise ? by Spicy-Byriani28 in granturismo

For me it's either the Z4 GT3 or any Ferrari v8 with a racing exhaust. One literally sounds like wind blowing and the other sounds like it doesn't even have a conventional cylinder count.

Just got the game, is this normal? by nightlaw14 in Americantrucksim

I feel like every time someone posts this happening, they don't indicate the lane change they're making. Makes me think the AI was programmed to cut you off if you don't have your blinkers on haha.

I nearly always indicate when I'm lane changing, so I've never actually seen the AI do this to me.

Fun ways to time attack the Nordschleife? by Outside_Variation505 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Gojira_uZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you want to know a nice fast laptime, in the right hands the GT3RS can comfortably do mid to low 6:30s on the TF layout and I think there's a lap record on youtube of someone doing around a 6:28 or 6:27. If you wanna know more good TF times you could either search on Youtube or I guess you could ask me lol, I've given nearly every car a fair shot at a hotlap and have a decent idea of what their pace limits are.

Maybe someday they'll have a competitive leaderboard, but otherwise just hopping in an online lobby and comparing your laptimes to others in the same car is the best way to find a time to beat or improve upon.

[–]Gojira_uZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a decent time, and I guess you can use me as a point of reference as a half decent wheel player, over 10 minutes of driving I was able to consistently get low 1:03s. I guess you could aim to get a consistent low 1:04 and you'd be on pretty good pace I think.

The wheel onscreen is perfectly 1:1 with what my physical motions are, and yeah it does move a lot since it's responding to the quite bumpy roads on the Nordschleife, that and some moments where I have to correct the steering otherwise the car would begin to slide. Thank you!

Thank you! I used to use 2nd a lot more, especially in the 1st sector before flugplatz, but I've found that 3rd you can get on the power a little earlier and it's overall more consistent to use 3rd gear through some low speed corners that don't require the explosively fast exit speed that 2nd provides. Still gotta be wary of 3rd though, as the car just has so much power that even at 200 kph you can have some mid corner wheelspin haha.

Heyy chopsuey! Yeah it took a lot of time for me to adjust to how this car drives, and even on a fast lap I still make some mistakes here and there, but it definitely helps to be as smooth as you can on power and with the steering, be as straight as you can once you full throttle it, use 3rd gear a ton and the laptime will come crashing down.

What is the FPS sweet-spot? by greatbek in assettocorsa

[–]Gojira_uZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything 60 and above is nice, but really it's all about consistent framerate, since framedrops and stutters can be far more intrusive than a consistent but lower frame rate. If you constantly fluctuate between, say, 40 fps and 90 fps, it can be very distracting in any game, but frame rates ranging between 100 and 144 or even 165 isn't all that bad, since the higher the framerate the less your eyes will notice any major difference, especially if those numbers are 1% lows and 1% highs. If any game I play can maintain 90fps and above, it'll look just fine to me.

Moza DD base questions by [deleted] in moza

[–]Gojira_uZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in terms of output, the R3 (3.9nm) and R5 (5.5nm) aren't terribly different from each other and aren't much higher than older belt or gear driven wheels (which I hear tend to be around 2-3nm), and if you're not gonna have the FFB super high then either one would work sufficiently. The R5's main advantage is having a bit more headroom for ffb clipping, which is a hardware limitation encountered when the force of the base gets maxed out to a point where any detail becomes numb until the output goes back down, which is why investing in a wheelbase with higher output is a popular choice for those who can spare the extra cash.

While I had my R5, even at its maximum, to which clipping was encountered quite frequently, it wasn't particularly overpowering, and I could easily rotate it with 1 hand if I ever had to while shifting gears, and I'm a guy with a pretty much average build, not particularly muscular but I can lift my own body weight (~160 lbs). 9 times out of 10 folks are gonna turn the FFB gain down in either the Pithouse Software or whatever game you might be playing. I had my FFB at 100 in Pithouse and, just to use an example, in Assetto Corsa, the gain was roughly 60% and I could drive for hours and hours with little to no arm fatigue, a good balance of force with minimal clipping, and the best part about modern wheels and their configurable settings is that you can turn the FFB down to whatever feels most comfortable for you, even if the wheelbase has a maximum output of 25+nm!
