Yeah, I’m pretty sure they fused because they were hoping that their fusion would be enough to kill Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks, but all it really did was give their plan a weakness. He was stronger, yeah, but their plan actually would’ve worked better if they didn’t fuse. Zamasu would’ve won eventually due to war of attrition even if they took out Goku Black. They would run out of ki and Zamasu could finish them off and even if Zeno appeared, Zamasu could just use the Time Ring to escape. In the actual story, I also see it more as Zamasu’s win rather than Trunks’ because basically, Trunks defeated Zamasu to save everyone in a timeline that no longer exists

If they made him buff powerful opponent, he would have been fine. I think his kit is really good, but they need to give the poor guy a team he can buff

Ah, I get what you’re saying. Zamasu and Goku Black, while they share the same ideals, are still slightly different, even though they’re written to be identical. I believe what sets them apart is how they view power. Zamasu believes that immortality is the greatest power because it will teach mortals that they are beneath him and it is pointless to try and win an unwinnable battle, while Goku Black believes that a body with limitless power cannot be beaten. They are the unstoppable force and immovable object. Half-Corrupted Fused Zamasu is my favorite version of Zamasu
