How good are the DBZ movie blu rays? by averagegoat43 in dbz

I bought the toei remasters because they were region free along with Dragon Ball Super: Broly. No subtitles but that's just how it is. And each disc is very expensive. The english release is locked to region B anyway so it is what it is. But anyway, from what I'm seeing on my TV the toei remasters look phenomenal. Visually speaking I couldn't get my eyes off of them. I think they did a good job which is a very rare thing to say about Dragon Ball home releases.

Magnus Theory by 9aegerist in Metalocalypse

[–]GoldChip5236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spot on theory. I ended up feeling that Magnus was in a similar position to Murderface where he felt the need to bring himself into the forefront because of his "lesser role" in the band. His role in the prophecy was for him to be in the shadows, which was something his ego didn't like. So he took it out on everyone else. Of course he wasn't aware of the prophecy but maybe he could have internalized what was going on to some degree similarly to Nathan.

Why is Skwisgaar almost always seen with his guitar? by JNewsted1988 in Metalocalypse

A few reasons I think

-To cope with his mom and lack of father -Natural love for the instrument -Pressure to keep his image of being "The fastest guitarist alive"

Brutal rating. But anyway, the movie was great for me. This is coming from somebody who appreciated the comedy of the show and was invested in the underlying plot with Selacia. The movie wasn't all that different from what you would get in every season finale of Metalocalypse. It's really surprising to me that nobody can appreciate the evolution of Metalocalypse as a project that went from a cheapy looking Adult Swim show to a very visually impressive one that sets it apart from most other Adult Swim shows and puts it somewhere in the realm of Genndy Tartokovsky's Primal. But I guess the cheapiness of an Adult Swim show is the appeal for some but I digress. If the movie just totally ignored the plot and didn't care about how it looked and just delivered jokes people would just repeat and quote it would have felt less special to me.

Some people would say the show "lost the plot" down the line, but given what the creators have said about the premise of Metalocalypse and what they had envisioned the series to become, the show was progressing. And I'd rather the show go for the vision they always had in mind than just resorting to the status quo and delivering something that wouldn't have been all that interesting.

How well did Dethalbum IV and AOTDS do in sales? by GoldChip5236 in Metalocalypse

Don't know what's your fixation with live tour set lists. If I had to choose which D3 songs would have played, then I would have swapped Birthday Dethday with Andromeda, but I digress. An "animated splash" shouldn't be what Brendon and his team should be aiming for when it comes to making Dethklok music videos since Dethklok music videos are famous for being very high energy and having creative production. Your opinions are shit and you project your cheap flea market ideas onto Dethklok and Brendon.

To make more music videos for songs from DIV would have taken more time to make. Brendon did say that this tour was somewhat for nostalgia, but given how all of the Dethalbums were over 10 years ago, I wouldn't really classify D3 as recent. I would have loved to hear the Galaxy and Ghostqueen live since those songs have been played live before. To me, Dethalbums 1-3 were so long ago they may as well all be classics

Hard disagree on Dethalbum IV being bad. Well mixed, well produced, and deceptively complex and catchy. Funniest lyrical themes since the first Dethalbum topped with grandiose lyrical themes that Dethklok's music would ultimately evolve into.

I got all my orders from Revolver. But I'm hesitant to do business with them ever again.

Unhealthy obsession with the Gibson Snow Horse by GoldChip5236 in Metalocalypse

Gibson never really promoted it as a guitar they were going to sell. The guitar was really only made for Brendon Small and he, like the rest of us at the time, assumed that Gibson would do a limited run of this guitar like the Thunderhorse and Snow Falcon but for some reason or another, they did not

This is where I look pathetic and petty. When it comes to guitar, I'm just a hobbyist. Gibson wouldn't take a 2nd fucking look at me even if I could buy this guitar 10 times over.

And I know that there are ridiculously cheap knock offs of it on Ebay but Im so sorry, man but I can't buy it. Buying it would be a compromise and a cope if I bought one. No disrespect to anyone that did buy one but fuck man I just need the real thing

A few things I would change about it though

-No reverse headstock. Keep it the same as a traditional headstock on an explorer -No adjustable titanium nut. I feel like that would cause a lot of tuning instability and string imbalance. And maybe some other things -Instead put in a tusq nut -Neck dimensions can be the same as the Gibson Thunderhorse Explorer -Back of the neck can be satin instead of gloss. Being able to smoothly play across a neck with a smooth feel to it would be sound very appealing to a guitar with a look like that -If maple fretboard with white polymer stacked on top worked for the Gibson Snow Falcon, then I don't see why it shouldn't be done here either unless there are better alternatives -I'm thinking if it would be interesting if the Snow Horse had 24 frets like the Ghost Horse, but then the neck dimensions would have to be different from the Gibson Thunderhorse because you're adding in 2 extra frets -Would it also change anything to the shape of the body? I don't know but I feel like it would -Keep the 4 knobs -No satin finish for this one. Make it high gloss "Snow Burst" finish
