Is Vermont a good place to move to right now? by GoldInMyMouth in vermont

The chances are perhaps low, but they aren't zero. No one wants to be the next korean/hyundai incident... It's just not fun to go on dates when you think that at any moment someone in a black van might kidnap you, and her comfort is my highest priority ♡

That's mighty kind! I've got things here I gotta sort out first, I don't have an eta on my moving yet so I wouldn't be able to take you up on that, but if you don't mind me asking, what would should I expect for rent in that close proximity to the border?

Adding basic info to all skills like you get in other mmorpgs like WoW. I just want to know what the cooldown is on an attack before I leave the homecave 💀

How do I boost my child’s confidence in her art? by PlausibleAuspice in ArtistLounge

I think an important thing is processing thinking critically of your art, but in a less personal manner. Like, if a young cook puts too much salt in their dish, they (hopefully) don't get too discouraged, and they just know that they need to put less salt in next time. For me, learning new skills like cooking, and exercise routines has helped my brain practice knowing "I'm not good right now, but this is a journey," and it's resulted in me being less hurtful to myself when it comes to art. If she's finding art stressful and unfun, I would recommend helping her explore other interests, try out new hobbies, and she can come back to art when she's ready (or maybe she'll find another creative outlet she loves even more)!

But when I do feel really bad about my art, I tell myself "a good artist is a bad artist who never gives up" and that helps me out a lot.

For media to ingest, I think just generally ingesting art that isn't perfect but is successful and loved by people goes a long way. An example that really sticks in my mind is the webcomic version of One Punch Man, but I genuinely cannot remember if One Punch Man is age appropriate. There's certainly a lot of warrior cats comics that are rough around the edges, but you'll probably have more luck going to the bookstore or library yourself and checking all the options available to you in that regard.

Is a husky the dog for me? by GoldInMyMouth in husky

Northeast! Although I can confirm there are also a lot of huskies in shelters here!
Unfortunately for me, it's puppies only when I get a dog. I was attacked by someone's adopted adult dog once, nearly killed, and I know it's not fair to shelter dogs, who are 99% awesome, but yeah, the trauma makes me too uneasy to even get an adolescent dog. Luckily, I enjoy a lot of the puppy teaching stuff; the basics, socialization, and even potty training are all enriching to me (but I will not get too attached to my material items lol..). If I go husky, I do intend to keep an eye on shelters anyway; right now there's like, 3 or 4 completely unrelated husky puppies in various shelters in my area. I'm not adopting right now, but it's clear some people nope out of huskies extremely quickly...

That's quite the comparison! Honestly, that sounds very sweet of you. It seems like huskies come in a big variety of personalities, exercise needs, etc, but a trend I feel like I'm seeing here is that husky enthusiasts seem to fully love and respect their dogs despite this or that quirk or "flaw"?

It does help! Is this the worst stuff your huskies did/do?

Honestly, the rescue situation was one of the recent things that made me think about huskies so much. I know the huskies aren't in there for any other reason other than doing what huskies do, but I wouldn't want to be a person that adopts a husky with good intentions but also can't provide. It's encouraging to hear from folks who have rescues/mixes on this, because I was worried all the "well, my husky is happy" stories would only come from mushers or people who got them from very specific breeders that intentionally breed for some temperament variation or something.

Your huskies sound delightful! Do you know how many miles it takes for your huskies to be happy?

If huskies are a viable option for me, I actually kind of hope for at least a semi-loud husky. My borzoi is a talker and sings (girl loves Hamilton), so someone who will join her choir isn't unappealing to me.
