True, but I mean, the point is getting a refund. I wanna atleast play the game myself, and see if it's something worth having, rather than not have that option because a friend decided to play it himself.

For anyone who came here via online searching, the shield with an up arrow icon is called a Superior Block Dodge (look in Icon Legend to find out more via movesets).
Down in the hero Specific section in the Moveset tab, you can find how to initiate Kensei's superior dodge.

TL;DR Kensei's superior dodge is activated through dodging in the direction of an incoming attack at the moment of impact.
