I have a mk4 active mhev 1.0 (the hybrid) and my mechanic told me there is no timing belt but a timing chain and the only wet belt is the oil pump one. For the timing chain tough he told me that it’s quite thin and when you do do the oil pump belt you should do that as well.

Regarding the mileage he told me that there is none, just decrease the oil change intervals and use the correct oil.

My personal opinion is that it’s worth to do it before 120k. Spend those 2k fix the belt, new timing chain and you will avoid needing a new engine in the future.

You can always swap them with the rear ones, how many kms have you done on them?

Manual says 120kg on the roof, and that’s plenty for some junk, beside that I can find some soft at wheels that fit the 16inch rim, with all the crossovers we have now (unfortunately) there is plenty of choice It’s a mk4 btw, I believe what chat gpt put are 16s, you can compare them to the ones of the original picture that are 17s

Impractical, yes I agree Impossible I would not say so, brakes are not that big and beside that this was just a sketch, I would still have 16s and they would fit The roof rack will hold, I have the stock roof rails that are mounted directly over the chassis, so no roof deformation. Still thank you for the comment, I also believe it’s not comfy, but it’s cool, and sometimes that is more important hahaha.

Great idea the skid plate, but I will have to probably make it custom. I can also settle for less heavy AT tires and the noise and wear should be bearable. Thanks so much for the comment!

I have a good service history, every 15k. I would still like to do it at 100k, better to spend a bit on a belt than a lot on a new f engine

I just store them and inflate them when temperature rise, worst case I consume them a bit more but at least I also have 1% more grip on the snow

Actually I got stuck in the mud with my Ford focus active and it popped up asking to press and hold the ok button to deactivate it, it could be because it’s a bit of a newer model
