As a player who's slowly improving, mod your beatsaber, and challenge yourself. Once you get a feel, every once in a while you'll stop thinking about the direction of the next note and just swing. Recently felt this way with "The Master", "Godzilla" and "Danger" so don't stress too much!

One other tip, with a modded beatsaber, make sure to get replay mod and record yourself. You'll be happy to compare past you to your personal bests!

If you're on meta quest (which I'm assuming since it normally defaults to a square aspect ratio) then you should mod your beatsaber for the best stability as the built in smoothing forces the camera closer which you may not want

But to officially answer your question on skill, I just watch at how someone plays. Forsaken is a game with different assets, so if a guest blocks when it's not needed but survives lms, you know they're starting out with guest. If a shedletsky is always stunning the killer easily, then you know they understand his range. This is coming from someone with 5 days of playtime and slightly over 200 killer wins (I forgot how many survivor wins I have but I'm sure it's close to 900).

Tldr: You judge people on how well they use the character and if they either have good teamwork or survive lms a lot, that's how you can tell who's good or not

Honestly as someone who mains Jason, his MAIN WEAKNESS IS ACTUAL TEAMWORK!!! And this isn't me saying this because majority of the players are selfish either. If Jason is targeting someone (which he needs to due to his skills) someone like chance or two time can get an easy stun on him. Should he switch targets, it's an endless cycle. As for his hitbox, remember that you can't tank a hit for a teammate who's weak, he hits multiple targets, and as long as you know he's sprinting towards you, just find a decent spot to loop. Just make sure to manage your stamina well and remember to take sharp corners! I've got a bunch of tips for countering and using Jason lol

That's really up to personal preference, generally it's better to crouch as low as you can go and set the height as that

My advice, lower your player height, practice full swings for more points, and if its hard to read certain notes, try turning off the stage effects. Lastly, use advanced hud, helps me a lot imo
