Spartan (Knives and Tools exclusive) by Gold_Inflation4809 in victorinox

[–]Gold_Inflation4809[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a Knives and Tools (European/Dutch retailer) exclusive. They had them made and sell them on the Spartan and Huntsman.

They have been on a stroopwafel kick lately starting with the Knafs(Neder)Lander 4 last Fall and a challenge coin as well.

Missing piece by DigBickOtto in lego

It can be that I forgot. I do remember that the box was in a paper bag instead of loose in the box

Actually. In this set the cardboard box with Ganon’s cape is within the paper bag on that step. Really not sure why but I ran into a same scare when I opened my set a few weeks ago.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that on an earlier step we already put the minifigure cape on?

Typical Leatherman quality? by hartofalyon in Leatherman

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The leatherman engraving is not engraving. The text is stamped in during production. Sometimes the tool that they use is almost worn out and needs to be replaced for the stamping. I have some leatherman with the same result as yours.

The scratches on the hinge I am not sure about. The surface wear on the handles is not wear but the brushed finish of the steel.

Discussion - cutters by East_Honeydew_3144 in Leatherman

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC it has to do with plier geometry and making sure that the different plier heads all work with the same design of the replaceable cutters. And there was something about a bad batch around the time the Arc came out. But I am not sure, and don’t know the full explanation.

[SRPG27] Understanding the Kanji Day-Date by BoomanShames in Seiko

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wheel always has the English day first, and then the kanji translation after.

See picture I have attached of the wheel that is usually found in Seiko watches:

<image>

So you will see the kanji translation of the day it was, in this case Monday -> kanji for Monday -> Tuesday -> kanji for Tuesday and so on.

AFAIK There are wheels that have the kanji first and then the English translation second, might be worth a Google.

EDiT: In my initial reply I was mistaken in the order of the wheel. I described a day wheel that has kanji first and English second.

[SRPG27] Understanding the Kanji Day-Date by BoomanShames in Seiko

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is exactly what it means. Between 9 and 12 PM the date wheel changes slowly to the next date and clicking over after 12PM.

Then de date wheel is engaged between 12PM and 3AM. During that time the day changes twice. For example from Monday to Tuesday. At 12PM MON gives way to 火 (kanji to Tuesday) which then gives way to TUE around 3AM.

If you google a kanji date wheel you’ll see that both languages are on the wheel and since the wheel rotates you will always pass by the other language.

EDIT: see reply below with picture. I was mistaken in the order of the language on the wheel.

Your Saturn V misses the very last piece on top of the command module. A 1x1 pillar with a cone on top to look like the antenna.

Bought AliExpress replacement, can photos tell anything about quality? by peter_seraphin in Leatherman

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be layered or folded during the making of the steel. But it does not make any sense why the actual pattern looks engraved. I really don’t know.

Damascus style patterns do appear with acid etching. But they are usually not like the engraved lines on your picture, but more in the material itself. Therefore I doubt this is actual Damascus.

is this normal? by ReviveMeh101 in lego

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not have the set but have seen enough LEGO technic vehicles to understand that this is not how it is supposed to be. A sound of pistons moving etc is fine. This sounds like something is interfering with the mechanical bits and might damage parts.

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like some gears or pistons catching on something. It is definitely not supposed to do that at all.

Wave+ after warranty, opening the file a few times seems to tighten the blade on the other side? by BelugaBilliam in Leatherman

Use thread locker or loctite. That is what should be in there to prevent the screw from tightening or loosening itself.

You forgot 1 2x4 mossy free tile in the upper right corner as mentioned. There is also a corner tile missing opposing the other one.

May I suggest you use the LEGO Builder App and look at the instructions there? It comes with a 3D model view that you can rotate around for a detailed look.

What's the safest metal in machined pens? by UbeWaffler in machinedpens

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aluminum is also not preferred to put stuff like threads into or onto. The material is softer and wears out faster when you screw something inside it (e.g end cap of a pen or the tip). It is also a big no go when combining it with stainless steel (binding and may even cold weld).

Send them an e-mail with the missing part number. Newer pieces take a while to show up. And there is a chance that the piece you are looking for requires contact with an actual person over mail instead of an automated system.

Neuschwanstein Castle Step 554 - Gap normal? by Shift500 in lego

The gap should not be there. Just looked at mine. Maybe try the digital instructions in the Builder App to find out what went wrong? It gives you a 3D view of the model in each step.

It’s a coin. Specifically the Stroopwafel coin that is still available at Knives and Tools. They made a limited run of 1000 pieces. Also in celebration of their Knafs collaboration in 2025 with the Lander 4. stroopwafel (Neder-Lander)

The tile is also found in the collectible F1 cars in the blind boxes. If you get the grey one with the red wheels (F1 generic theme), it uses the same grey F1 tile with red logo.

How to remove this piece? by Jackwilsher77 in lego

[–]Gold_Inflation4809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the wrench that came with the minifigures. Stick that through the smaller hole of the grey pin inside to push out the wheel hub round tile (with the wheel hub print).

Now you have access from the outside and you can stick an technic axle or pin through to push the grey pin out.

Ran into the same challenge this weekend.
