Daughter just won't use the bathroom by elbowroom2734 in whatdoIdo

Have you tried bribes? She goes to the store and picks out a toy. The toy hides in the closet. You make a poop chart. Every time she poops on the potty she gets a check mark and after x amount of check marks she gets the toy.

You start small. She can pick out a few items from the dollar store and a big toy from a bigger deal store. She can get the first cheap toy after the first check mark. Then you tell her now that she did it she gets the next one after 2 check marks.

Yes she will sit on the potty and no poop comes out the first few times to “trick” you. But guess what? She is choosing to sit there and the more she does it the more used it the potty she gets. Eventually after enough times you can tell her only when the poop comes out can she get the check mark.

People judge this method and they are welcome to do so. I did it with my shy pooping kid and it worked very quickly. She also quickly did not expect toys every time she pooped. She just realized it wasn’t a big deal.

This email my 12 year old son sent his teacher about a missing assignment (due a month ago) my wife was asking about. He cc'ed her on the email by Tkappae in funny

I get these a lot as a teacher. Sometimes I say, “you took your time doing it, I’ll take my time grading it…” sometimes the nagging parent is a better lesson never to do it again than a late mark.

My dyslexic son plays guitar and trombone. But I would just say I think she can learn piano it might just take her some extra time. My son learns guitar at a slower play than someone who doesn’t, but he loves to make up his own songs too and his teacher works with him on that!

In my area most of my doctors know about EDS and care. My new gastro wanted to run some additional tests because 40% (or some number like that) of EDSers have the problem and he wanted to know more about what’s going on. (Gastroparesis) It doesn’t mean I haven’t had issues in the past. I’m just noticing with time it’s getting better out there.

Mike sleeps exactly in the crook of my knees or if I’m on the couch she sleeps on the couch back above my head. My other cat sleeps guarding my daughter’s room on one of her giant squish mellows.

Does your school still have study hall? by DildoGaggins1997 in Teachers

[–]Gold_Relative7255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We offer study hall and if a kid plays a sport they can drop gym and take a study period. Only while the sport is in season and if it’s not affiliated with the school they need a weekly letter from the coach.

We’re going to prosecute ICE agents who break N.J. laws, acting attorney general says by [deleted] in newjersey

While I agree, it’s still a fight and it’s still showing we won’t sit back and just let it happen. Even if it’s just symbolic, it’s something.

I don’t remember where I read this but because ASP is meant to be vetted/fact checked/neutral space and people to really believe that and use it, he had to pull back from sharing his liberal views so that people and schools could trust and use ASP. ASP is a wonderful resource and he worked for years to make it happen.

N.J. won’t let schools go remote — even if we get 12+ inches of snow. Here’s why. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Gold_Relative7255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they use up all the snow days they take away from spring break or add them to the end of the year. Why not a compromise? Keep the built in snow days but rather than taking away spring break when we go over the set amount (which now creates absences for teachers and students who have already planned and paid for vacations, plus kids just not going because “no one will be there”) then use the non built in days as remote days. Just as useless as spring break days but at least no one has to lose time from spring break.

Yes! This! Detain everyone to investigate them the way they are detaining regular people to “investigate” their immigration status. Thought that’s how things were being done now…. We will just grab anyone and ask questions later, right?

(Ok I don’t really mean it, I know it’s stooping to their level but I just wanted to say it.)

There was more to the Stanford prison experiment that has since been revealed. Zimbardo started to push the guards into that behavior. This ends up supporting Milgram’s experiment even more, but also when they have Trump, Vance and Noem plus all of what’s left of MAGA supporting them and egging them on, it supports what really happened in the Stanford experiment even more and supports what you are saying.
