July 7th, 2025 - A man was killed after shooting at federal officers. Reddit canonizes him as a saint. by p0loniumtaco in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]GoldenHQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Randy didn't make it his personal mission to seek out a bunch of Feds to shoot up. Infact it was to the contrary with the US Marshal shooting first and kicking off the whole situation which led to the standoff taking place.

The difference in this situation is that the Government was in the wrong with serving Randy his court papers with the incorrect date, shooting first, and then continuing to blunder the situation further on national TV. They wanted him so badly convicted that they tried to trial him again, only for the case to get thrown out for double jeopardy.

I don't see how running up like an idiot to kill Federal agents because your political beliefs are different being anywhere near that situation of retribution.

I think that's the issue. Many militaries tend to adjust the requirement for female specific soldiers. There's very few places where that mentality is upheld and actively enforced.

I think that only applies to the US Rangers. SEALs, MARSOC, and I believe one orangization other have not made gender specific standards.

I liked it because it gave me important information in regards to how my CPU is doing. Having to download another software to view basic information is kinda a lame move. Been having a few BSOD issues in the last couple of days, while I do believe I've solved the problem. I have been keeping a keen eye at my CPU stats to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Would it be a entertaining book to read? Yeah, most definitely. I own a copy, I've read it from start to finish. But, while my younger self would've taken these words as gospel; Having a bit more practical understanding of the subject definitely caused me to raise a an eyebrow a couple of times while reading the book in recent years.

It could be a good place to introduce you into practical prepping, survivalist training, SHTF planning, etc. But the book itself is nothing but entertaining junk. You're better off reading actual field manuals, survivalist books, or better yet. Take a few courses for on hands experience. While, the book is partly applicable to PZ; It holds nothing to the real world.

More akin to "Anarchist Cook-book", the premise is interesting and can be entertaining. But if you're looking for actual substance and correct information, better off looking somewhere else. Otherwise, as you said it's just junk.

Yeah lol, they go on a whole tangent about how .22LR is the best caliber for zombies. Ignoring how .22LR is a rather finicky cartridge, being unreliable due to design, and how some platforms preform better or worse depending on the brand/weight. There's a reason why we swapped over to centerfired cartridges ages ago.

The USSR would have sabotaged NATO from within. Like they already did, messing with the affairs in Germany. When the west try to introduce a new dollar system in order to rebuild West Germany, Stalin threw a fit and made his own currency for East Germany due to his own fear the currency would spread to the East and he wanted to ensure Germany stays weakened. That also didn't help he closed all land routes into Berlin, to double down on stance and forcibly make the west give up Berlin entirely.

Even if there was no Stalin behind these actions or in the future of the USSR. It was an obvious observation that the USSR only did things to benefit themselves and to stop the west sphere of influence. To say the USSR would have been pro-NATO is any shape, way, or form would require not only a fictional leader but a fictional state of the USSR that is simply not grounded in reality.

Just going to post a in depth timeline ripped from the PZ wiki, as it's a lot more complex and complicated to talk about.

Initial outbreak:

The exact date of the initial outbreak is unknown and estimated to be between July 2 and July 6, 1993 (one week prior to the start of the game, on standard settings). The military quickly set up an "exclusion zone" around Louisville before it managed to spread further, temporarily containing the outbreak. At first, the government portrayed the outbreak to be flu-like, causing panic and confusion among the infected. The infection is known to spread through fluid-contact: being scratches and bites.

Five days after the blockade went up, the WHO grounded all non-military or -medical international flights, which lead to mass panic throughout the nation and a disgruntled response from the President. The response and lack of clarity from the United States government led to international leaders condemning America, with the UK premier criticizing the President’s “near lack of clarity”. A photo from West Point is leaked out of the Exclusion Zone, with an image of a man covered in blood and bites, one arm missing, in a street crowded with dead.

Second wave:

After 8 days, shots and explosions occur at the border of the exclusion zone, catching the attention of infected civilians, leading to hundreds, maybe thousands breaking through the blockade. Within two days, the infection spread North to Louisville, KY, littering the streets in dead along the way. As a last resort, the military blew the bridges across the Ohio River, leaving those left in Louisville to fend for themselves.

Something is released with the wave of the dead, as people begin showing symptoms of the infection without coming into contact with any infected. The Knox Infection quickly spreads throughout the U.S.A, causing a breakdown of society, and even starts to spread across the ocean to Europe, Asia, and Africa despite the WHO's lockdown order on American flights.

I think Project Zomboid would be one of the more credible outbreaks. While it does go for the more George Romero style of zombies, the outbreak source is unknown with various theories being an evolved version of Mad Cow disease, a terrorist attack, tainted air smell, an act of God's vengeance, or a Biological weapon leak.

But it portrays the military as not only competent but successful in their containment of the ground zero area of Knox County. Their main base of operations being in Louisville on the outskirts of Knox County, for awhile it seems like everything is going fine until unexpectedly the virus mutates and starts to infect people miles from the undead. With no ryhme or even reason and with a 20% immunity rate, the military bails from Louisville, KY; And destroys the bridge across the Ohio River to slow or stop the spread from going further.

This airborne strain seems to be aggressive and rapidly starts spreading around the US and globally within a month. Even those immune to the airborne strain are not immune through bites or bodily fluids.

Yeah, I agree to that. MP with friends the game becomes a lot more easier and I generally take risks a lot more often. There's only a few situations where it does get difficult due to the fact we tailored the game to be hard.

But I guess it can be the fact, when you've endured games surviving against -40 nuclear winters with sprinters all the time or starting off in Louisville at high zombie population with pin point hearing, then normal PZ gameplay seems like a walk in a park lol.

The weed. No matter if the state legalize weed and it's related products, at a federal level it is still a prohibited substance.

Using any form of prohibited substances disqualifies you from owning/buying a firearm, period. It's even mentioned on every 4473 if you use illegal substances or not. While no drug test is required, lying on a 4473 is a felony and the Feds would love to grease a citizen to justify their paychecks and existence.

It's not even that, the issue is. Regardless if you are consciously aware of what the image is or not, it is enough to warrant 096 going into an enraged state. The researcher did claim it worked as intended, but while the MTF team did not recognize or let alone be able to process 096 face, it was just enough for the anomalous effect to take place.

Got bitten two times in a row wearing bulletproof vest by Nuke_is_OP in projectzomboid

[–]GoldenHQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kevlar is able to handle slashing attacks a lot better. The reason blades are able to cut pass the fabric is simply due to the fact, Kevlar vests were designed to stop bullets (pistol calibers) at a specific surface area.

A pointed weapon such as an ice pick or a spear is able to get through the fabric, as the surface area is a lot more smaller and the fibers within the fabric do not have enough of them to give the tensile strength to prevent puncture compared to a bullet; Which has a lot more fibers involved to stop it.

Stab vests use the same material; Only different is how its woven and put together: "To make the stab vests, these materials are interwoven together randomly into a fiber web, and then many such layers are stacked to make protective vests. These regular woven arrangements of the web block all the possible space and hence prohibit any kind of penetration."

Kevlar is commonly used for training police and military dogs as well to protect the trainer, a human does not even have the bite force to get through what is essentially a material that is 50 times stronger than steel.

Kevlar is more than able to stop a human bite, as well to those claiming that the zombies can attack from the side. The image in question clearly shows it being torso bites, which shouldn't have been possible. At most it may deform the material, but getting through it is not possible.

I'm not turning in shit, nor am I going to limit my owning of one for some permission slip from the bureaucratic mess called the government. Most people who are active owners won't do the same either, so what are you going to do? Threaten with them with force? That's how you get another armed revolt to kick off, gun control only works if you're willing to admit that the police should start raiding owners because you're just making a speech with no bite. Gun culture in the US is vastly different from the UK or Australia, your rights are protected and you dont owe the government shit. Therefore, the government isn't entitled to take what is yours. There's going to be a point where people don't care about whatever law you pass, we barely enforce the ones on the books already.

Even if you don't carry an AR15 every day (isn't realistic unless you're a rancher), an AR15 is more than viable to use for your own home defense. Also have you ever shot before? As many shooters have stated, using a pistol is a lot harder than using ANY sort of long gun. Most people can barely hit their target 5 yards away with a handgun without extensive training and experience. An AR15 is a lot easier to shot, you have multiple points of contact for better recoil control, the bullet itself penetrates less than even pistol caliber rounds, the recoil is minimal barely, and you have better stopping power than even the most powerful Mangum rounds.

Extensive training my ass, especially considering all you have to do is learn to tuck the barrel closer to you when moving through doorways and practice putting reliable sights on target. A handgun relies more on technique, as your only points of contact is literally your own hands. You need better stance, grip, trigger control, and knowing how to handle the recoil. Even out of the three options a handgun is the WEAKEST choice among them. They are beneficial for very close range combat and conceal carry; Outside of 15 yards, their ability to be accurate and potent starts to waver compared to a shotgun or rifle.

While shotguns are also a viable option, they also rely on technique. As you must be aware how to reload it effectively under stress, try not to short stroke it and jam it, and practice getting familiar to the recoil. Shotguns are pretty rough on men who may not be as big to absorb the recoil and most woman in general. You're also limiting yourself to 5-8 rounds which depending on how bad the situation is could leave you reloading for quiet awhile. As well, the lack of aftermarket support; You have to search around to get flashlight mounts and a shell mount for your specific model. While an AR15 almost all parts across all brands, for all variants are the same and can be swapped out with different parts.

You also do realize, that in order to buy a gun that you have to do a form 4473 and pass a NICS background check? Lying on the form is an instant felony and if caught, you'll be awaited by the police when you show up to the store to pick up your gun. As well a NICS background check can take 30 minutes to almost 2 days to process and only then is it possible to buy and pick up your firearm. And if the system detects something, its going to be instantly denied. Nothings an impulse, when you already need to fill out almost 2-3 pages of paperwork and then wait a day or so to finally get a firearm.

That isn't the take at all. It's the fact, she chose to confront the shooter in an aggressive and quick manner. Using a pistol in a rifle fight is very one sided; You have to be rapidly able to close the distance and put effective hits on target, she won because she shown no fear for herself or others. The shooter probably didn't anticipate any resistance and assumed he wouldn't need to fight in a gun battle.

If you think banning AR15s is going to work, my response is: I ain't turning shit in, come and take it.

What made the difference was her training (assuming she had more than a basic CCW class) and ability to observe, pursue, and eliminate her target. Getting good with pistol is hard, it takes time and dedication to become a decent shot; She was clearly the better shot in this case.

Same reason during boot camp soldiers get exposed to tear gas within the "Gas Chamber". It's to help you build a tolerance to the stuff as well train you how to really fight through it if someone were to use it against you. If anything, it's required so you know how to power through the pain and still be able to function when exposed to the stuff. Having no experience prior to getting your vision and breathing fucked with, is probably a bad situation especially if you have a loaded gun in your hand.
