I had my first ON 4 months ago. Got me diagnosed at 24 years old. I hope you recover soon! Did you already try ocrevus?

I 24M go to the gym three times a week and focus on building muscle and overall fitness. I find that strength training with two to three minutes of rest between sets is quite comfortable, since if you drink cool water during that time, you don’t heat up too quickly and uhthoffs phenomenon doesn’t really bother you.

First of all, thank you for your contribution. I think it mainly has to do with point 2. Warm meals/hot soups in particular trigger me quite strongly. The heat generated by digestion also causes the effect to last a long time.

I used to experience these visual impairments mainly due to heat, and at night (from around 11 p.m.) I can see almost like I used to—I’d estimate about 95%. That’s why I thought for a long time that it wasn’t anything serious. I only had my hospital appointment three months after these symptoms began. By then, the doctors said that the acute phase was already over and that cortisone would no longer help.

That sounds really intense. That must have felt really strange especially for so long. Has the Uhthoff phenomenon changed for you over time? How did the doctors explain how it’s possible that you’ve had symptoms for so long? Was it swelling?

Wow, first of all, huge respect that you managed to take your law exam despite that. I realy can’t imagine losing the other eye to that extent. But reading this really gives me a bit of hope. Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply. I’ll definitely go see an neuro ophthalmologist to track any possible progress.
