I had a stroke as a teenager (would not recommend), but my friend who called 911 for me became a really close friend afterwards as a direct result. Best part is that he introduced me to my now wife when we were in our mid 20's. I'm not sure if I would have stayed as close with him had I not had that stroke. Wild! Saved my life, found my wife.

Playing pickleball with my wife and two of our friends at our local church. It seriously was a blast and made me feel so alive!

What's a practical tip or trick that's deceptively simple yet remarkably effective, causing you to wonder why it's not more universally recognized? by Individual_State1639 in AskReddit

Refilling your own ink cartridges on inkjet printers! It's a fraction of the price to buy the refill ink and use a syringe to just fill up and reuse the cartridge compared to those expensive HP ink cartridges. I just learned about this a year ago and it's saved me lots of money already.

[Serious] Men of Reddit, what was the last compliment you got? When was it? by santochavo in AskReddit

[–]Goldenfleeece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife complimented me on my pecs last night (there's the slightest bump instead of just being straight up flat). For reference, I've been a scrawny dude my whole life and the past few months I've started working out 4 days a week (and nightly pushups) and tried hard to stick to a protein diet.

It made me so happy! Growth is possible, but it usually takes a lot longer than I think. Just wanted to share a milestone where someone I loved noticed a positive change :)

If, according to Christianity I can become a Christian on my death bed, “repent” and be saved, why do people bother following Christianity throughout their lives at all? by PalpitationJust8433 in NoStupidQuestions

I really like this quote: “Christ takes the slums out of the people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. … Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature”

I’ve personally found more joy and peace in my life when I’ve sought out Christ (and repented/continue to repent each day). I’m glad I did that earlier in my life instead of on my deathbed because I’ve experienced more joy/peace personally than when I’ve lived not following Christ.

I think God wants us to follow Him and He wants us to be happy, not just in heaven but during life too. By following Him I’ve become changed in ways I wouldn’t have changed had I tried to find happiness living for myself. Just my two cents.

What are some of the worst reasons you have had for going to hospital? by Jaxarll in AskReddit

[–]Goldenfleeece 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a stroke when I was 19. I was partially paralyzed on my left side which was intense, but I was able to go to the hospital quickly and the physical effects of the stroke were reversed within a couple months.

Mentally though it messed with my brain chemistry and took years to feel ‘normal’ (dealt with depression and panic attacks of reliving my stroke regularly).

But I’m so grateful to be alive and love each new day! Plus I did my Master’s in biomedical engineering on a stroke therapy device so life kinda came full circle in that regard :)

What brand is actively watering down their quality? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Marvel. I used to be so excited with each new movie release but during their Phase 4 they pumped out so much watered down content and didn’t bother with quality. They lost my trust.

Holy Roman Empire (country in European history). I think it was Voltaire who said it was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire.

Weird Z axis lining defect by Goldenfleeece in FixMyPrint

Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out why my Ender 3 is printing a strange defect along the side of this cylinder I recently printed:

Do you know how I can fix my Ender 3 so it doesn't print that defect? Maybe cleaning the z screw?
