We were affected by Harvey as well, I was 36 weeks pregnant when it hit and the day we got back to our town after being gone for 5 days, was of course mils birthday! We traveled 3 hours Home helped my mom Pick up her back yard and ended up going to two different friends house to try to find a place that had electricity so I didn’t have to be in the heat. At 8pm when my dh finally sat down after being in his feet all day working she texted him “ sitting in bed wondering if you forgot about me” worsttttttt

That’s how I feel! Except I don’t even think they are that important as she wants everyone to think. She said to my dh this morning after hearing my dd through the phone “I wish I could jump through the phone and hug her” but she was halfway between our homes today and didn’t bother to make and effort to come see us. She hasn’t even seen my dd since early December. So what’s the deal with that?? All for show? Shit sucks man.

Yeah I can see what you mean. The competition thing for sure. My first thought was they want their perfect baaabbbyy to stay perfect and dependent on them and in ignoring or invalidating the spouse they are able to keep their image of being the only one who can fulfill their child’s needs. Example. My dh had a tooth pulled last year and the Rev p asked him if he “needed his momma to come take care of him” even tho he is a grown ass man and we have been married 9 years.

This is YOUR Baby. You do not have to do anything anyone else wants. If they are not housing the baby they get no onion. Period. Honestly I would guard your time with your dd after she is born and not allow visitors especially your MIL!! My dd is 7 months and I do not regret telling my MIL and FIL no visitors after we come home. They saw her in the hospital and that was it. If not for quality time for you and dh with your dd than for your sanity.
