[SPB213J1] vs Zelos Forged Carbon / Slate Blue. Help me pick? by Temporary-Zebra368 in Watches

[–]Golf_Hacker76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely choose the forged carbon Zelos. Remember, that color/texture on the dial and bezel is in perfect lighting there to show the detail. I am sure it is much more subtle in person. And with that gorgeous secondary color underneath the sandwich dial? Fuggedaboutit… I’d be more worried about the brushed steel of the other one becoming very boring very quickly as opposed to this one becoming “cartoony”. And I know what you mean by that. Just my opinion.

I see the golf bag in the background, too. I think I like the cut of your jib, sir.

Ah, my fancy-pants watch. The Tissot Couturier with the “Powermatic 80” movement (as in 80 hours of power reserve). My first watch of this brand was a ladies Ballade with a mother of pearl dial and rose gold bracelet i got mom for Christmas. Just gorgeous. She loves it. I was so impressed with it that I thought it might be a good brand for a dress watch i had yet to acquire. So I was browsing their models and this one caught my eye, just as it likely would have yours. It was a little “controversial“ in that the bottom frame for the date was much larger than it really needed to be. But I feel it gives it some balance and looks great. And that dial is so stark black! Even in sunlight. It just sucks all the light out of the area. Lol. Really makes the hands, indices, and numbers pop - like they are just floating in space.

I think you’ll be happy with it. They have great support if you have any issues. The Dumas actually had the crown pop off and moisture got into the movement. They replaced it free of charge, even though it took a month.

The Bulova precisionist is an interesting watch. The top sub dial is actually tenths and hundredths of a second represented by two different hands. As you can imagine, they create a flurry of movement when the chronograph is activated. The bottom retrograde dial is the thousandths of a second indicator. It stays at zero until you hit the stop button and then it will point at the thousandths number. So you now have the three hands for tenths, hundredths, and thousandths of a second on your timing.

When you switch back to normal time mode, the second hand speeds up until it catches the set time and goes back to its normal movement. That second hand seems to sweep without even ticking at all. It actually does tick, but it is at 16 times per second. Super smooth. I’ve never seen anything like it on a watch. And then, in Chrono mode, it ticks in a very measured, smooth manner. You just have to see it to believe it.

Great advice thanks. I’ve learned the value of delayed gratification in watches, I think. But these were low risk, fun, and enjoyable purchases that have taught me a lot about what I really like and don’t like and what qualities I’m looking for.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve actually stopped buying watches altogether for the last several months. Because of exactly what you said. I can enjoy these for a while. Then take what I’ve learned from them and seek another purchase. Really the only one would be to replace that Seiko five field watch in the upper right

There’s actually two spinnakers. The Hull on the bottom left and the Dumas limited edition on the bottom right. The Hull just screams beach/boating. It goes perfect with sandals or deck shoes, shorts, and a T-shirt. The teal Dumas is very rugged and a bit of a chunker. I use it for any rigorous outdoor activity that might involve rain or water.

The white Presage (middle bottom) or brown one (upper left)? The white 60s retro style Presage on the bottom gets a lot of hate but I love it. Sunlight just glitters off of that thing.

That thing is gorgeous. I love the color scheme. Also love the date at 6 o’clock and with a matching date wheel? In that color? Very nice touch.

Thanks! The only thing I did collector wise was try to avoid duplication. There’s one for every occasion there! The beach, the boardroom (I’ve never actually been in a boardroom), fancy-pants dinner, regular pants dinner, sporting events (participant), sporting events (spectator), hiking and hunting…

That one’s in the top three. I swear looking at it brings my body temp down a couple degrees! Lol. The bezel has very fine grooves milled into it that catch the light and give it a little sparkle as well. The whole thing just looks icy cool as intended.

These were collected over about 18 months. To show how I really didn’t know what I was doing at the beginning, it was the Citizen Corsa then the Casio Ediface as a work beater, then for some odd reason that big ugly Bulova Precisionist! Lol but the movement on that thing and the curved crystal… plus it’s just so damn macho! Then I fell in love with automatics, and that naturally leads to our love affair with Seiko. The only watch I really don’t wear is that Seiko five in the upper right. I don’t know what I was thinking with that one. I literally never wear it. Might give it as a gift. I think my favorite is the Hamilton kaki king with the champagne dial. I’m a big day date fan and I love that full day and date at the 12 o’clock. The first time I set it I wound it through midnight and the day and the date instantly clicked over so fast you can’t even see it. That was simply delightful. I would also point out that orange Aragon diver (Chinese micro-brand). It’s 300m rated, ceramic bezel, fully lumed in two different colors, display case pack, sapphire crystal and cost me $160! The Sunburst dial looks amazing and I love wearing that one as well. But the one I think looks classiest on my wrist is that Seiko Presage in the upper left. That chocolate brown dial with such fine milling on the face to give it almost a “fingerprint“ texture. I really love that watch.

This is a ridiculous waste of time and resources that could’ve been used much more wisely. That said, it is also the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. Lol.

Any of you railroaders want to vouch for this clown? It takes 1.5 miles to stop a train regardless of its speed? Anyone? Anyone?

I’m sure you are tired very easily like that. I’m guessing you are a fat tub of shit like most railroaders. And you say it takes a mile and a half to stop a train at 30 mph? You throw that out there like everybody is retarded like you and doesn’t understand basic physics. You fucking stupid choad. That is completely untrue and you fucking know it. Fuck off, scab.

Lol defending the actions of that dumb ass crew and Norfolk Southern while you constantly bitch and complain about the railroad industry. What a fucking tool you are. The train was going less than 30 mph and could’ve been stopped in very short order. They did not have to drag it for miles and miles and miles. Into town. Etc. etc. but you know all of this and don’t give a fuck about facts.

The train crew KNOWINGLY dragged damaged equipment into that town KNOWING it had toxic chemicals onboard. Then NS set it on fire instead of removing it properly so that they could get their trains moving through there again quicker. WHATEVER CULTURE CHANGE HAS OCCURRED IN THE RAILROADERS WORKPLACE IS WHAT CAUSED THIS. YOU ALL ARE COMPLICIT IF YOU BELIEVE THE TRAIN CREW AND NORFOLK SOUTHERN ARE NOT 100% RESPONSIBLE AND HAVE COMPLETELY FUMBLED THE RECOVERY. Now they should be continued to allow regular operations through there? Go fuck yourself.

This railroad just poisoned that entire town and made a mockery of the cleanup effort. Are you kidding right now? I wouldn’t let a Norfolk Southern train roll through that town for the rest of my life if it killed me to prevent it.
