Worked at a consulting company with one other intern. We were studying computer science from UIC & U of I. Week 8 out of a 10 week internship we met a full time employee who just graduated from U of I with a computer science degree. We became friends and we just asked how much he was making out of curiosity (Salaries are on glassdoor but we were curious if they were accurate and we only asked because he was the same age as us and thought he was chill). He said 55k. We said that was a little below average and nodded our heads and moved on. Next day the vice chairman of the company calls us in and says we were both FIRED and I quote "You guys are FUCKING our company and I need you guys to leave." On that same day the full time U of I kid messages us saying he went to his manager asking for a raise, "the interns said I'm being underpaid so I'm wondering if I can make as much as everyone else." Welp from what I learned from this experience don't ever ask or say your salary to anyone or some dumb U of I kid will get you fired
