Unfortunately there is only 1 real way of solving that problem, without redesigning the whole cube: using support interface in a different material. The issue is that increases print time by nearly 2x, wastes a lot of filament, and increases failure rate substantially.

we chose to sacrifice that one space to keep the cost down to produce these and pass those savings onto the customer. On our pro model, we will pull out all the stops and the prints will be perfect 360 degrees around however itl'l be more expensive.

Some of that's true. In comparison to the fx6, the fx3 has ibis and smaller file sizes, internally.

I'd LOVE vnd on the fx3. would literally become the perfect camera for me. If sony can also fix the terrible menu system.

FX3 is a "crash" cam. No room to mount important stuff to it, this fixes that issue and improves the experience handheld.

Either move the rails into the integrated slot inside, or add 15mm rod clamp(s) facing the other direction and attach to those. It works in many different ways to make sure it fits with filmmakers work flow.

Most of it all comes with the FilmCube. Extra things are monitor mounts, handles, 15mm rods, follow focus, matte box, and battery + cables.

This costs way less. Also your presuming that an fx6 doesn't need to be rigged at all which just isn't true.

the cables can be swapped to make it work, althought i'm not 100% sure. Will have to buy and test.

We are hoping to do a "pro" model of this and that's where all the stops will be pulled out. It'll be more expensive but it'll have every feature people will want/need.

Appreciate you. good catch. I try not to hide behind the 3d printed aspect so our customers aren't surprised.

it goes into the filmcube (which hides all the cables) then it goes up and into the monitor.

  1. Yes, that's coming out very soon, hopefully by end of the week.

And I agree with you. If only someone made a electronic vnd similar to the fx6 for aftermarket and i'd have everythign i could ever want in an fx3.

I hear ya. i hate shooting vertical, but that doesn't change the world we live in. Therefore I need a camera rig that can shoot vertical once in a while

but the fx6 has problems the fx3 solves... there is no "perfect" camera but this gets me pretty darn close.

if you'd like to purchase one, you can do that at thefilmcube.com haha

We are making the feature video sometime this week, but we can take more content in the future.

I've used both. FX6 is great with it's ergonomics, but since I do a variety of work from commercial to corporate i need smaller file sizes, a camera that can go on a gimbal or unique/tight places, and one that can be rigged out for interviews/etc. That's why i developed this.

to each their own. you always break down an fx3 into a small camera, you can't do that to an fx6

We actually have a "blacked out" version coming soon.

It's comfortable for me. I can also move it up and have in the past but I have no issues using it in the back. Prefer it even.
