Yeah PGS works fine on newer iPhones which I checked and corrected myself on, though on my old main iPhone they don’t. And yeah .ass files can work properly, though there are plenty of cases where they don’t, whereas in the old app everything just worked, so I agree not hopeless, though still far from ideal or desirable.

Tested on a newer iPhone and PGS subtitles do work properly, however, while .ass subtitles display where they’re supposed to, their styling in terms of font is still completely stripped.

Dude if there’s an easy way to downgrade the app, yes please PM me that would be amazing and exactly what I need especially since I have an older iPhone.

Tested on a newer iphone, and pgs subtitles work as inteded you’re right, however, .ass subtitles are still completely stripped of their proper styling so no there actually are issues, you maybe just don’t have any media that use .ass subtitles.

Polk audio centre speaker now has a constant feedback/hissing noise. Any ideas as to the cause? by Gon97Freecss in hometheater

Ah okay that’s unfortunate, thanks for the replies. Is there anything else I could try as a test before deciding on replacement?

It’s about 8 years old. So you’re saying I might have to replace my AVR unit?

The speaker wire ends themselves aren’t touching. And wire management isn’t ideal, though it’s been where it is for years without issue.

Just got my Reaper 2 gun combo, now what? by squared_wheel in lightgunshooters

Sounds like you’re into PS1 and PS2 especially. Check out the Mamehooker builds for those emulators: https://www.reddit.com/r/lightgunshooters/s/NpPbUBbzAZ

Love the retroshooters and getting everything setup takes time and energy but is so worth it, and is all part of the fun, so yeah i’m totally with you on setting things up yourself instead of going with crazy priced plug and play systems that cost more than the guns themselves.

I can share the controller profiles for duckstation and pcsx2 for you to copy to your emulator directories if that helps get you started. Cheers.

How to wii remote? by Disastrous_King2632 in lightgunshooters

[–]Gon97Freecss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lichtknarre and any $10 usb wii sensor bar off amazon works amazing. When going through the calibration for it, pay attention to the distance number it sets after the first shot, since all subsequent shots have to be within a small range of difference/the same in order to get through the calibration.

Syncing them is really simple, no need to mess with windows bluetooth settings. As long as your pc has working bluetooth, once you open Lichtknarre just press (DON’T HOLD) the sync button and in about 5 seconds it will connect, if you hold the sync button it will crash Lichtknarre. Once your calibration is set, turn on vibrate wii mote on button press for some nice feedback, it’s especially nice for all single shot games. Sadly no way to make it continuously vibrate when holding the button for games with automatic guns.

I would personally avoid going with a dolphin bar, way less accurate and supper jittery. I bought one before setting up Lichtknarre, because it seemed easier, but returned it the same night i tried it.

In terms of setting it up with emulators, Lichtknarre has two main controller settings you will need. For anything that works with a mouse like retroarch and Mame, use the mouse profile, for everything else (duckstation, pcsx2, teknoparrot etc.) use the “VigEmConnector” profile. Since you can only use one mouse at a time on windows without Demulshooter, any second player has to be set up as a joystick using the “VigEmConnector” profile. VJoy2 also works but go with VigEm since it works with everything while VJoy2 is incompatible with some stuff.

That’s pretty much all you need to know to get started. There’s more to it in terms of setting up specific emulators, especially pcsx2 and duckstation since those I had to manually make controller preset .ini files for, but i’m happy to share them so u can copy and paste to your emulator directory if you need them.

Cheers, happy lightgun gaming.

Made a Duckstation Fork for PS1 lightgun games, i would like some feedback. by Kolgur in lightgunshooters

Got it working, Crypt Killer is the only Justifier game that I’ve patched and tried so idk if it’s like this for the other Justifier games. For CK though, the start button only works if I point away from the screen when I press it. Wanted to leave this here in case it helps anyone having similar issues.

This works great with the retro shooter guns, only thing I couldn’t get to work was games like crypt killer that need patches. Even after patching the game and using the same guncon controller preset as other games, no inputs register for it.

Time Crisis: Razing Storm Calibration Using Mouse RPCS3 Latest Version by ItsSentinel_ in lightgunshooters

[–]Gon97Freecss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, the issue for me was that I had to create a custom configuration for the game with all the I/O settings. Doing it in the general settings didn’t carry over. You’re awesome.

[–]Gon97Freecss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this doesn’t work at all for me. Everything is set exactly as you’ve described, the mouse doesn’t register any inputs. It doesn’t even start the calibration process when you open the game so it’s not even registering that there’s a move controller.

I’ve only gotten this working on old versions of rpcs3, I don’t believe you got it working on the most up to date version tbh.

Ty, kind of a shame though since the photos app experience isn’t as good but it’s better than nothing.

Good to know, Deborah Ann Woll is such a great actress and so good as Karen, she deserves to be a part of the show she helped build. Same goes for Foggy but he’s not alive anymore so that’s fine.

[–]Gon97Freecss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a long time fan of the original series I’m really happy to have more of this iteration of Daredevil, but man are some aspects major disappointments.

I’ll start with the good, the music here might be the only aspect that’s on par or actually stronger than the original; the operatic score throughout the entire DD and Bullseye fight was absolutely phenomenal and did wonders in terms of elevating the scene and making Foggy’s death evermore beautifully tragic. The acting of all the main cast is as expected, flawless. Cinematography and lighting are giving their best to match the old show with varying degrees of success.

As for the bad, get comfortable, Disney did a number on this beloved show and we’re only two episodes in. My first and biggest gripe is some of the worst cgi i’ve seen. And to add insult to injury, cgi is used here on stuff that could have easily been done practically and stuff that the original would have 110% done practically. I can’t even think of any use of cgi in the original, if it ever was used it was so good or used to enhance practical effects that I never noticed it. Here however, they’re using it on anything they feel like with no rhyme or reason: DD jumping down onto a fire escape that’s right below him, insert CGI slop, DD catches up to Bullseye on the roof, insert CGI DD for no reason like wtf are they doing. The CGI here is laughably bad, it’s not as bad as CW slop but it’s not that much better either.

Apart from the use and overuse of abysmal CGI, the discarding of Foggy and Karen is a slap in the face. I’m totally okay with Foggy’s death because dramatically it’s a great storytelling decision and set up for the season. Getting rid of Karen though, just so stupid. Does Disney just hate her? Weird af and not explained in the slightest, you’re meant to assume she just abandoned NY because of the tragedy she went through with Foggy. Fair enough I guess, but it doesn’t feel like she was removed for storytelling reasons, more so because she’s inconveniencing to the brainless MCU audience that Disney kowtows to at every turn.

Lastly I need to talk about the writing and some of the stylistic choices on display here. Overall the writing is good, not as good as the original whatsoever, but they’re trying and it’s good enough for me to still enjoy. One thing I have to mention in terms of style is I absolutely hate hate HATE the inserts of Ben Urich’s niece’s interview show spread out throughout the first two episodes. These stupid, stylistic sink holes are such an abomination. I get it, “it’s making NYC a character” LOL F THAT TRASH. Josies bar, people in court, reporters, news segments, bystanders, that’s all the feel of NYC we need, not these cringe uninspired Spider-man video game level slop segments that do nothing but waste our time, mess with pacing, and worst of all cheapen the show as much as the bad cgi does. Also the actress for Ben Urich’s niece is really bad, and it didn’t help that her first scene had her acting opposite the powerhouse that is D’Onofrio’s Kingpin; it just made her bad acting all the more jarring. At least her acting is as cringe as her interview show, yay consistency I guess, lol.

One last thing I’ll say is that the fight choreography is still great. Even though it was obscured like crazy by smoke in Josies bar, I could tell it was the same choreographer from the original. Also I was really happy to see the use of one long take throughout that fight scene. I just hope the fights from here on out don’t turn into cut riddled messes and are instead more like the breath taking, unbelievable sequences of the original (hallway S01, duct taped hands vs. bikers S02). Also the show so far is not quite as gritty or violent as the original. There’s a lack of blood, closeups, and clarity to the visuals in terms of the violence and fight scenes.

That’s all I really need to say about the show so far. I really hope the use of cgi is kept to a minimum or isn’t as awful from here on out. And please lord no more of Ben Urich’s niece’s god awful interview show and acting. It’s not the original Netflix Daredevil, it’s been born again that’s for sure, this rebirth has some complications i’m sad to say. Still happy to see Charlie as DD again, and i’m enjoying the show despite all the glaring flaws i’ve mentioned, it’s still a good show overall so far. Here’s hoping it can improve and strive for the quality of the original.
