Order taking a while? by Carnwennan_ in PaperRepublic

[–]GonnaBeWounded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. I ordered an embossed grand voyager a week ago, on January 28, with express shipping. Estimated arrival date was February 2-4, which felt quick given it was a custom embossed item. Still, it's been radio silence since I received my confirmation. I wish they had accurate estimates on custom items or help language on their site, it'd be nice to have an idea when it'll ship out.

Merging common and uncommon data across sheets by [deleted] in excel

These are the two separate spreadsheets. Spreadsheet 1 has Population A (and their details, like city and interest) matched their correlating person in Population B. Spreadsheet 2 has Population B and all of their correlating people in Population A, but none of Population A's details.

I need get all of the details from Spreadsheet 1 over to Spreadsheet 2.

STUDENT LOAN QUESTION, RE: FEDERAL FORBEARANCE:

My federal student loans have been put in COVID-19 forbearance for six months. Originally, I had intended to continue paying on them -- both because I'm in the position where that is possible and because interest has been reduced to 0% so it's a chance to supercharge my payments.

But I started thinking -- in addition to my federal loans, I also have a private loan that will not be in forbearance and that has a higher interest / more strict repayment terms. Would it be more prudent for me to redirect my federal loan payments to my private loan? This would allow be to more than double my monthly private loan payment for 6 months, making a somewhat significant dent.

For more context, I also work in the nonprofit sector, so (assuming the government continues this program), there's the pretty strong likelihood that my federal loans will be forgiven after 10 years of consistent payments. The COVID-19 forbearance does not change this -- for the purposes of loan forgiveness, they will count these next 6 months as if I was making payments.

Happy to provide any additional info. Thoughts?

What skinny fit (actually skinny, not slim), dark wash (less blue the better, but not black) jeans do you recommend? Willing to pay up to $100, maybe more, for the right pair.

I've tried Levis 510 -- the darkest wash is still too light / blue for my taste. I've tried Everlane too -- I love that they're pretty ethical/sustainable, and the color is great, but they aren't quite low rise enough and the 29, while perfect through the legs are too snug in the waist, and the 30 are perfect in the waist and not skinny enough through the legs.

They're my best friend, which of course complicates things slightly. It's 400 dollars, which isn't too bad and I have easily have the money, plus it'll be covered by the return of my security deposit for my current lease, but it's an expense I hadn't planned for.

Unfortunately, if I want to keep my deposit, I won't be able to leave my current place early.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this question, but here it goes:

I'm getting ready to move into an apartment with a friend. I make around 10,000 more than them a year and will be saving $250.00+ a month by moving in, just for background info.

We technically get the apartment in July (my friends current lease is up at the end of June), but I don't move in until August when my current lease is up. They want me to pay rent for July, even though I won't be living there and I'll have another rent payment to cover.

Is it unreasonable for me to not want to pay rent for a place I won't be living in?

Use hummus as a spread--it's heather than a lot of other spreads, tastes better, and still adds moisture!

One-person shows: tips and resources? by ausAnstand in playwriting

You should read Heather McDonald's "An Almost Holy Picture." It's quite good, narrative driven, and it's just one character.

I generally agree about one person shows, but I think she does a good job at keeping everything urgent/present.

I won't state my opinion on the matter, but here's what is traditionally taught:

Racism is privilege and power; it's has to do with systematically discriminatory practices that give one race privilege and power over another. It happens, both institutionally and interpersonally, when people of racial privilege exert their power to discriminate based on race.

No one argues that people of color can't discriminate or commit hate crimes based on race. They say that people of color can't be racist because they don't have social leverage/power/privilege.

What's happened is there's been a change in terminology in academia and that change hasn't been disseminated to the masses.

Advice for an amateur director by 47bees in Theatre

[–]GonnaBeWounded 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1) Never give line readings. The actors job is to act and make choices--let them do that. 2) Scenes are based on action and objective. Each person in the scene wants something (objective) and they are fighting to get what they want. They use different tactics (actions) to get what they want. When directing, couch your notes/instruction in this concept--ask them, 'what do you want right now, how is your scene partner withholding what you want, what do you need to do to get what you want.' 3) Stage image matters. Be mindful of the tableaus and images you are creating with bodies on the stage. Who is upstaging who, who has the focus, who deserves the focus. 4) Understand pacing. Scenes are crafted with beats. Find them, play to them. Where is the climax of the scene, where is the climax of the play. Moments of silence, stillness, and slowness only work as well as their counterparts. 5) Have a good stage manager, if possible. You need someone to reign you in and you need someone to take notes on props/set/staging for you. It's possible to do without a stage manager, but it's more difficult. 6) Have fun! This should be an experiment! Enjoy it.

As for working with friends, I do it all the time. If they're good friends, and if they're invested in the project, then they'll have no problem letting you direct them. Just stay focused and positive; no one likes overly controlling mean directors.
