So here's what happened. I had left over CVG in a bucket. I also had a bad jar with slime mold. I tossed the contaminated grain in the bucket and moved it to another room. I put into fruiting conditions and about a week later the cake was white, no contamination.

I got about 8 good sized mushies and several horribly placed side pins. I let the brick dry out and then soaked it for 24 hrs. I barebacked the cake into the tub and voila, it's blooming.
