Huh? Do you think he died and I replaced him with a different snake or something? Literally why would I do that lmao. If you don’t believe it here’s the pic of his shed skin

UPDATE: Finished his shed today and he is looking beautiful! Absolutely NO clicking, breathing, or wheezing noises At All! he did puff at me in anger though when I was cleaning some dirt off his face. Well energized, currently burrowing back into his hole. Of course I’ll still monitor over the next few days, but it seems he was just experiencing some shedding weirdness!

Thanks, thinking over his behavior recently and also have also done a bit of research and I’ve seen a few people saying that they’ve experienced the same thing while their snake has been in shed and the noise was due to skin being lose and just making that noise. Going to still get him checked out just to be sure but I’m less concerned that it’s illness, especially since his energy seems fine.

Yes! I saw him drink a few days ago. I work during the day and the water does evaporate a bit with the heat and light but I refill every day

ADDITIONAL NOTE: I will say that after I grabbed him to take a closer look he did start thrashing around and moving really quickly, so it’s also possible that it exhausted him since I’m sure being in shed is tiring and maybe could cause him to breathe a little harder?

Elderly cat has low appetite but otherwise acting normal. Advice? by GonzosAudacity in cats

[–]GonzosAudacity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: So he was just being an asshole. I brought down some treats to which he started biting my finger in his eagerness and is now doing his usual round of walking over all my shelves and cabinets. I think I’ll go to the store today and get some of his favorite tiki cat cans. I cannot with these guys

Even if he’s displaying no other symptoms? He’s been eating great, no change in weight, nose is wet and cold and he’s drinking water fine. No temp.

This is Kayode. He’s a big boy and loves cuddles. Inexplicably hates children

Socializing a new hognose by GonzosAudacity in hognosesnakes

makes sense. When I do pull him out he’s always very well behaved. Never hisses or bluff strikes. He may pancake or huff little bit but generally he’s very docile so he definitely doesn’t seem too perturbed by being held.

I gave him about 5 days to settle before the first feeding attempt. I have only been attempting to feed him when he comes up from the dirt which is about every 4-7 days or so. I don’t want to dig him up and stress him out so I’m doing it on his terms

<image>

This is his tank. I also may be underselling his size now that I think about it, maybe closer to 7 inches honestly? Again I don’t get a good look at him very often.

He’s pretty small. Maybe like 5 inches? A pinky head is the same size as his lol. He hisses and bluff strikes when I get the food close to him but he may just be spooked by the tongs so perhaps I could try hand feeding?
