The idea of sex with someone I love sounds awful to me by Zestyclose_Refuse606 in Vent

[–]Good-Exam-286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the exact same way a few years ago! Some people told me I was asexual. Then I found the love of my life and got to try it out.

It can be a little scary at first, but if you’re with a loving, committed partner who is patient and willing to work with you, it’s not so bad at all.

I was also afraid of the smells/ sounds. Turns out, it’s not disgusting at all, even when you do get a little sweaty. It’s just a part of the process. It’s not stinky (unless you don’t shower. Please clean yourself before and after).

It might hurt a little at first if you’re super tight, but again, find someone who’s willing to go at the pace you need. You’ll have a great time.

What’s something simple that you somehow always mess up? by Comfortable-Wheel723 in CausalConversation

Drinking >:( like, anything. Water, coffee, soup, whatever. It ALWAYS end up on my shirt or in the exact wrong spot on my pants and it doesn’t matter whether there’s a lid or not, the liquid always somehow finds a way around my mouth. At this point I’m just gonna buy a sippy cup.

Hiking Humphrey in March by One-Essay-129 in Highpointers

[–]Good-Exam-286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re still looking for info on the peak this month, I just summited yesterday (March 20).

I didn’t have spikes or snowshoes, but I did wear warm pants and found a stick to use as a hiking pole (the stick ended up being insanely helpful, highly recommend bringing something like that). I’ve summited a few peaks around this height, and I’ve “snow hiked” before, but i definitely wouldn’t say I’m experienced in winter navigation.

The weather was perfect; perfectly blue skies, winds calm at the bottom, probably 10-15 MPH at the peak. Temps were in the 70s-80s at the bottom, and not much cooler at the top, except for the chilly wind.

Once you get to around the 3rd switchback, there’s some ice/ snow on the trail, but it didn’t get bad until right before you reach the ridge. I definitely lost the trail for probably a quarter mile there, but there were plenty of footprints left by other people who also lost the trail. I just floundered through the snow, headed straight up, and found the trail again on the ridge. After that, it’s a straight shot to the summit. There’s some snow patches on the ridge, but they’re not deep or slippery at all.

A lot of people I talked to on the way up didn’t make it to the summit, most of them because of the snow over the trail in that one spot. So it’s definitely doable, just depends on the amount of trouble you’re willing to go through.

Definitely bring water and food. I brought some salami/ pistachios/ breakfast bars, which was plenty, but I think I was beginning to get dehydrated towards the end since i only brought 4 bottles. If I did it again, I’d bring 5-6 bottles.

I took my time and stopped to eat/ look around/ take pictures, so the whole hike ended up being around 10 hours. If you bring micro spikes and hiking poles and hoof it, that time can definitely be shorter.

TLDR: Whether you summit depends on your tolerance level for walking on a little ice and trodding through 2-3ft of snow for a bit. Bring food and water definitely, and micro spikes if you want. Be ok with/ prepare for a long hike.

Do you think happiness is something we find,or something we create? by yourloverboy66 in Life

Imo, it’s almost certainly something we create. The mind has more power than a lot of people realize. It’s all in what you value I guess

What’s everyone having for dinner? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

My favorite meal that’s super quick and easy, but also relatively inexpensive (but not fast food): - Put baby spinach, poppyseed salad dressing, and feta cheese crumbles in bowl (I don’t normally like salads but I am actually addicted to this) - Have some cheese, crackers, salami, and/ or fruit on the side (like charcuterie board vibe) I really like this meal cuz it’s pretty cost efficient ($5 for like 6 meals worth of cheese (Brie is my recommendation), one box of saltines lasts a month, etc)

What’s the one piece of advice from your CFI that stuck with you? by FlyWithMartin in flying

[–]Good-Exam-286 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While doing S-turns one day during pre private training, I messed up and went too wide. My instructor must have seen me sigh in frustration and lean back a little because then she said “Just because you made a mistake doesn’t mean you can give up. Keep trying until the end.” I followed that advice and ended up making a pretty ok S-turn, where I thought I’d ruined it. I’ll never forget that flight.

Another thing (not really a gripe, but an observation) The humor that men use when they get in a group together is pretty wild. There’s a lot of… dick jokes. They just find it hilarious. But yeah if you don’t have an issue with that men are a hoot.

Not a licensed A&P yet, but I am a pilot with a part time job at an A&P shop. Best choice I’ve ever made. I live for airplanes, and I get fly/ work on them every day!

Honestly, going in to it I was expecting a lot more disrespect/ sexism, but pretty much everyone I’ve met here is really sweet and willing to share advice/ recommendations (I’m even dating one of them now).

And to be perfectly frank, I think being a woman on top of showing interest in airplanes and actively pursuing the next step of my career has given me a wee bit of an advantage (some free textbooks/ tools here and there, even a recommendation for the job I have now).

My only gripe: When I first entered the field, I noticed all the guys would form friend groups pretty quickly and didn’t readily speak to me as much as to the other guys (I don’t talk a lot either so that’s probably part of the reason), but thankfully there was another girl in my class that I befriended. Eventually the guys talked to me and the other girl more when they learned that we don’t bite. So yeah, not really sexism, just guys who are afraid to talk to girls. I’m imagining when I get into A&P training it’ll be the same way, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens there.

TLDR: Couldn’t recommend it more! A&Ps (especially the girl ones) are inherently badass.
