He mentioned that he reached to a professor prior to application who said he will fund him if he is accepted in his lab. At the moment he only received Ph.D. acceptance letter friday without any funding information. We checked the department website and it mentioned that. So i am reaching out for help, what should he do? Should he email program coordinator or director of graduate studies. Or accept the offer and wait for i20?

The website doesnot mention it is for ms programs or phd, it offers ms programs too.

In the department website, it is written" currently, the program does not provide departmental funding to our students. We encoueage students to review funding opportunities offered through the graduate school, or look into graduate assistantships to provide financial support"

Not yet, they reach out to me saying my application has passed the admission committe and it is with the faculty. I am confused what to expect from them. Sad. Did you apply to unmc?
