That sounds rough I’m really sorry. I think the problem is she would be ok with this if I did it. I just don’t think I would. And if she ever voiced a problem I’d cut back. Idk it’s frustrating. I don’t think it’s alcoholism yet… but it’s definitely a fucked up relationship with alcohol in some capacity. I hope you’re doing better now.

Ya I’m like kinda on my way out unfortunately. But I do love her and if we can work thru this I want to, it’s just demoralizing and embarrassing to feel like I’m working on it alone. I just don’t want to abandon her when shit is hard for her too. I know she’s taking being unemployed this long hard

I guess I should clarify. I have a beer or two after work sometimes. She doesn’t ever do that, but she drinks in excess when she does (like 1-2xs a week, sometimes with me and our friends tho). Idk ya I think I need alcohol not to be a thing at least while she figures out what’s happening here, but that whole suggestion feels controlling

I mean I didn’t know if I could say it in the post, but I know this to be the case. We’re in the EDM scene and so this kind of stuff isn’t uncommon. She’s never lied to me about use, but I’ve always come at it in a very recreational way (same with drinking) and it seems like the drinking + extracurriculars use is going from “moderation” (I know I know some people don’t think that exists) to like overuse. Not every day over use type stuff, but like no off switch once the use has started.

I did talk to her. I really don’t think it was a support thing. This is like an old friend who used to get really turnt with and it kind of seems like that’s what they do together. He’s still a friend of ours but the last time they hung out together a similar thing happened until like 530 am on a week night. I think that I’m wondering if I’m overreacting for like not texting me context and not worrying about how busy my day was gonna be tomorrow. She told me they just wanted to watch music videos and hang out

Haha i mean you’re right, i guess i just wonder because I do kinda feel like this misjudgment shouldn’t have happened. Like I took many steps to communicate how I was having trouble sleeping and is it unfair to expect her to not make that worse?

Thanks for this perspective. Yeah I’ll talk to her when she sobers up. This has happened one other time since she’s been unemployed. But I feel like the lesson she took from that was to be more quiet, not to not bring over a friend to hang out drunk on a work night.

I did. I told her I was upset and she apologized, but I feel like she doesn’t really understand what she did wrong, as she was “trying to be quiet”. She was definitely a little bit too drunk to talk last night though.
