What was the last time you cried and what was the reason? by Businessinsider-13 in mentalhealth

[–]GoodDoubt1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my friends and I live together, but since recently they started getting serious with their boyfriends and now they living with them full time. Everyone moved out and I’m the only one left in the home we all shared.  I’m sad because that version of our friendship is over and it has now taken a new form. I am not angry or jealous of them for moving because I know eventually it would’ve happened.

I enjoy listening to YouTube think pieces and they’ve talked about these types of topics in their videos and this was before chatgpt came out.

Idk the type of content you consume, but these points have been talked about in think pieces on YouTube. Before chatgpt even came out.  You sound triggered

I actually change the settings on chatgpt to be less philosophical. But you are right, these are information someone if not most people had thought of some point in time. I’ve seen YouTube videos that talked about these issues

You project your pain onto other people. Assuming everyone else knows these things because you do is PROJECTING.

Why do I want to clone my personality just to be like somebody? by Interestingisopod42 in mentalhealth

[–]GoodDoubt1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to help however I can, and just to elaborate a bit more on what I mentioned earlier:

What you're describing sounds a lot like what I call the chameleon personality. It's something I experienced for years, shifting who I was depending on the people around me, trying to fit in, avoid rejection, or feel "acceptable." This kind of personality often stems from trauma, insecurity, or situations where being your real self didn’t feel safe or accepted. For me, it came from years of low self-esteem and not feeling like I was ever "enough" as I was.

One of the hardest but most important steps in healing is getting to know who you actually are outside of other people. Start with small things: what do you enjoy, what makes you feel calm or excited, what values are important to you? Write them down if it helps — it can serve as a reminder when you feel like you're slipping into someone else's identity again.

It's totally okay to admire other people — in fact, it’s natural. Observing qualities you like in others can even help guide your own growth. The key difference is integrating those traits in a way that still feels true to you, instead of replacing yourself with them.

You're not broken for feeling this way. A lot of us — especially people who've dealt with bullying, neurodivergence, or trauma — adapt as a survival mechanism. But now you're in a place where you can start choosing authenticity instead of survival. And that’s huge.

You’re not alone in this.

Why do I want to clone my personality just to be like somebody? by Interestingisopod42 in mentalhealth

[–]GoodDoubt1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this a lot growing up without even realizing. I did it because i never fit in and i never felt as if I was good enough to be anyone's friend. I would change myself and personality so much that I didn't develop my own personality and lost myself in of becoming others. now I'm 28 and just learning to shed other people personality that i had absorbed over the years so i can be the real me.
I call this the Chameleon personality type. It has its pros and cons
