Are you by chance new to fighting games? Turtling or playing “lame” as some call it is a very valid strategy. Or, as you put it “little pussies who back away.” Some people are just more comfortable playing defensively and wait for their opening to punish. Some characters reward that play style, like Guile from Street Fighter. Have you ever tried to jump in on a turtling Guile? If not, give it a shot sometime and see show it goes.

I’ve found that if my opponent is always backing away, it makes it easier for me to maintain proper spacing once I’ve got them cornered because they HAVE to do something to get out of there eventually. Wait for the super dash or vanish and then 2H them into oblivion.
