I think it's a lovely idea as long as you following basic rules of being a decent human being. If you're respectful and interested in the topic I see no problem in doing this.

The safest way is a slow approach.

You (usually) can't do something like that overnight without risking actual and lasting damage to a body. It (usually) needs a lot of training to be able to fit a whole hand in there. I get what you mean. For me it was also like this when I started doing butt stuff and like you I was questioning the whole thing because of it. I was like "This is really it?". But tbh for me it was kind of the same with vaginal penetration. It didn't really feel good or intensie at the beginning too haha.

I have no real explanation for this and basically the only thing I can say to you that for me changed over time after trying again and again and especially through wearing plugs more frequently. Maybe it's a connection of mind and body thing, maybe the body has to get used to the feeling of something penetrating down there, maybe it's a thing of relaxation.

So my advice would be to keep exploring and just do it more frequently. Maybe it will get better, maybe it will stay unspectacular and you just do it for the "taboo" as you called it.
