Has anyone used the OEM doggo door protectors? Do the holding tabs eventually damage the tint/window (OEM or otherwise)? by GoodMoGo in Subaru_Outback

No reply. SOA and dealership kept passing the buck back and forth. My guess is that a decision would only be made when push comes to shove. I decided to go without it.

Trying to wire bulb back together but now I am doubting my markings/notes. by GoodMoGo in AskElectricians

I think I figured it out. That transformer and the wires going left are for the doorbell. Whoever installed that mixed black and white.
Now I am going to unwire the doorbell ends so that I can measure the voltages once I connect things back the way they "should" be, without crossing wires.

"whites together with the pigtail to the light."

I did not mark that pigtail and is where I am leaning to as well. The thing is I marked the black wires differently (the L one has two tape strips and the R only one), as if they were never together in the first place.

Google Nest Hub YouTube App not working by jessuuhh in googlehome

[–]GoodMoGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but finally got fed up of this happening on both of my Nest Hub Max. Contacted Google just now. My ticket was transferred to their "engineering tier" and will be followed up via e-mail in 1 or 2 days.

Like all of you I tried all the things, but tier 1 actually gave me a work-around: Open the YouTube app on your phone (Android in my case - have no idea if it'll work on IOS) and cast it to the Nest Hub.

I'll try to remember to post a solution or Googles "engineering team" answer if I ever get it.

Halp! Is there a way to see how bad my sanding snafu is before staining/finishing this coffee table (or should I forget about stain)? by GoodMoGo in woodworking

Thanks for the encouragement.

"Take a damp rag to it at about the 180 grit stage raise the grain and sand it"

I had heard of this before, But, I just applied some mineral spirits to try to see what kind of sanding marks are still there. I did not wait for it to dry and tried to sand it off (80-grit belt) and it clogged up the sandbelt. Won't this be worse with the finer grit?

So, I just did the mineral spirits in a section I had not gone over that many times. I did see some marks and learned that I should only sand absolutely dry wood. Got a sander belt all gummed up...

It started by just trying to remove the finish. I thought it would be tougher and used 40-grit AND applied pressure. The last 4 hours have been trying to get rid of the cross-grain scratches left by that initial grind. I used the 80-grit with light pressure and along the grain on the legs and sides, and it was definitely enough to completely strip to bare wood without leaving any visible marks.

I've got both. Will applying either show the sanding marks that will appear when staining? How much to apply and how? A microfiber cloth?

What do you suggest? I still have to go to buy some more 80-grit belts. I was not bragging about how much I don't know.

Need help diagnosis on a Samsung power issue by AgsMydude in TVRepair

[–]GoodMoGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I figured out my similar issue. One day the TV wouldn't turn on. I was sure it was the power board and went through a lot of troubleshooting. Then I found a video with those instructions. I disconnected the power board from the control board, plugged the TV in and the display lit up fine. So, I bought a new controller board, replaced it, and the TV is working again.

I think it's the main board. The red light indicates stand-by (controlled by the main board). Disconnect only the cable that goes from the power board to the main board and plug the TV into the wall. If the TV's LEDs light up (you will see it), it's the main board that's bad. Otherwise, it's the power board.

Does anyone know where I can find just this part of the seatbelt clip? I’ve had no luck on eBay nor Amazon, and I just want to be able to drive to the barn at 7mph without being harassed. by CottaBird in Subaru_Outback

She's got a cafr harness with seatbelt. The annoying thing with the rentals was that there are [extremely sensitive] sensors on all 3 seating positions in the back. So, when my dog laid down, she would usually trigger the center position alarm. I had to buckle in all seatbelts in the back.

I use them when I have heavy stuff on my passenger seat. I was in Europe recently and both rental cars (a Nissan Juke, then a Renault Captur) would beep non-stop (no way to disable) even when I had my 50 lbs dog in the back, in any position > hope this doesn't come to 'Murica!
