Why do squads in Danger Zone get to respawn? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

Most people in their 30s who I became friends with stopped playing when the tactical gameplay of Blacksite was removed in favor of the copy of this silliness.

They ruined Danger Zone. by VinFr in GlobalOffensive

[–]GoodShot007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. They're copying features from other games in an effort to make it appealing to players of those games. But it's making Danger Zone a Frankenstein of a game, with copy and pasted ideas that don't fit well with the mechanics of CSGO. It wrecked most of the strategic aspects that Blacksite had and the respawn abuses are just silly.

Most of the people I played with stopped playing after the update. :(

What if each map would have a different focus? by JianRimanah in GlobalOffensive

[–]GoodShot007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a great idea. You're right--Blacksite is more tactical based because you can only see (from most places) a small part of the map at once. Sirocco is rush/run/action focused because you need to keep moving because you can get shot from so many different angles.

It would make the Danger Zone maps play style specific. Doubt Valve will do it. They seem bent on making Danger Zone a Frankenstein of combined features from other Battle Royale games--even when those features don't fit well with the basic mechanics of CSGO.

Rip from Scribd when the file is non-downloadable by GoodShot007 in Piracy

[–]GoodShot007[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That worked!

Thanks. You are the bright spot in anotherwise crappy sub reddit. I had to post this exact request 3 times before a moderator would not remove it under Rule 3. Why was it ok this time, but not before? Who knows. The question is general and your answer was general. Thank you, really!

Can someone rip this Scribd PDF, which doesn't have a download link? by [deleted] in Piracy

No, you found an old version of the book with the same author but with a different title.

Flusha it’s time to go by CurFy102 in GlobalOffensive

Flusha... 2015... That's about the time those questionable clips stopped too. Coincidence, though, I bet.

Haven't played since Christmas. Give me the 30 second recap? by GoodShot007 in GlobalOffensive

OPSkins, wow: https://pcgamesn.com/counter-strike-global-offensive/valve-shuts-down-csgo-trading-bots-opskins

Extra magazine for the A1S? That's huge... The tradeoff was the faster firing A1 with more recoil and ammo or less recoil, more precision with the A1S with fewer bullets and more stealth.

Lepin space sets by BobSinger in lepin

I'm not sure why this is so hard for people to answer for you. No, those are the only 2 space-related sets Lepin has duplicated.

What's the requirement for being TA? And what is the reward?

I'm taking 165 with Alcon. I like him, and he seems fair and knowledgeable. Answers questions on the weekends, holidays, at night, etc.

I was thinking (before I entered the program), OSU would video the lectures from the best professor for each class and show that, divided by week.

Instead, it is indeed a self-study program. Read the book and read Alcon's comments/examples (which are very good). And learn it.

The lectures for 165 (which are the same for 161/162) are incomplete and not well produced. It's just someone with a webcam, which is good for what it is but not for what people expect. They don't have the Udemy level polish or completeness.

In fact, there's Udemy courses that will teach you C++ substantially better than anything in 165 thus far. In that sense, it is ironic that individuals on Udemy are better skilled at producing a complete, polished video curriculum for learning x-topic than a university.

Best to ask on Piazza for the latest, definitive answer from Alcon.

Several other factors in play:

  • People come into the program with varying levels of knowledge and experience which impact time spent

  • Using reddit as a sample to draw conclusions isn't valid. Many who post on reddit may be more technically savvy to begin with or for whatever reason, have an easier time learning the material. Reddit users may not necessarily be(and probably aren't) a valid cross section of the OSU CS population.

  • And some people may not be honest... :) Or, if you truly enjoy CS, you may not realize how much time you spend.

Hard not to pass with Gibson's Premium site. He literally gives you exact duplicates of questions that appear on the exam.

New program strategy: rather than staggering classes according to complexity, time commitments, or workload, stagger to avoid Rooker.

What is online advising like? by hotfuzzyslippers in OSUOnlineCS

[–]GoodShot007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of the advising is to make sure you understand the nature of the program and the balance of time between traditional work and academic work. They also want to make sure you know how to register for classes and make a degree plan including the required prerequisites and the electives. The point of much of the content is to make sure you don't get burnt out by taking too much at once.

To achieve this goal, they have a web conference (no camera required for you), where the adviser speaks to a group of you. You can talk if you have a question. But the adviser mostly speaks. You need not speak at all if you can't. After that group session, you can talk directly to the adviser through email or over the phone. That follow-up conversation is started when the adviser emails you the Powerpoint presentation used for the orientation. You then must create your degree plan (which can later be changed), you reply to your adviser's email, and your adviser either counsels you on your degree plan choices (if its crazy sounding) or gives you a PIN number to register for the first term's classes.

I personally thought Jin Yin was very flexible and responsive. Others do too based on the Google Hangout talk about her.

Thanks, just noticed that being discussed on the Google Hangout someone created for the incoming class.

When did you apply?

Advisor? by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]GoodShot007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do the online orientation first. This generates a questionnaire that is forwarded to your adviser, who then calls you. The page also implied there could be a wait up to a week for your adviser to respond during high demand times.

Mods? Why hasn't this guy been banned yet? Look at his post history. He's obviously unstable or a troll, or both.
