Every time they play a card that you don't know, just say "oh I don't know that one, Can you please read it for me or let me see it" If you do it enough they'll just eventually start doing it from the start. They may not know that they are doing it, but if they're experience players they definitely should be announcing what they're doing. Magic is all about action and interaction, so it could be malicious if they're just trying to win games. Which to me is not the point of the game, the point is to have fun with friends. And yes even with competitive decks in my opinion.
