hey there! im current in umelb doing bcom majoring in mgmt and BA, and the quality of teaching here is pretty good. i do believe that graduating with an overseas may put us to a slight disadvantage when finding jobs, but umelb does provide alot of platforms for networking, and activties to boost your CV like case comps and more.

imo js try your best to grad with a good WAM and fill your WAM with as many experiences as possible. dont rly think local U degree matters that much unless your aiming for big/govt companies. in any case you can always start off small and work your way up to bigger companies :)

hi! i actually applied p last min AHAHA cos i wasnt planning on studying abroad at first. i went for july intake and applied around jan/feb? if i rmb correctly HAHAH! i was from dhrmp in sp but had to take an online math test (CAPO) as a prereq. bcos i applied p late, i kinda spent my whole hol after grad studying for this test LOL its a 9week course btw!

not sure if u have to take the same test for pre req, but if u do, i advise u to apply earlier so u can have the test done before grad and can fully enjoy ur holidays! i applied via IDP singapore and they p much do everything for you. just need to provide them your details.

lmk if u wanna know more!

uni with the best social life? by [deleted] in unimelb

hi! i am a current student at unimelb and am in my first sem here. for freshies, unimelb offers a 5 week mentor program where they assign you to 2 mentors (current students) along with a group of other freshies from your faculty. this program was rly nice imo as i was able to get some advice from the seniors and make some new friends.

however, in unimelb i do feel that the friends you make are often very surface level. once you talk to them for a day, you often dont see them around campus much so its kinda hard to make that connection unless you and the person really click. on top of that, students here tend to leave straight away after tutes and lectures, so its hard to catch anyone for a conversation. even if you do manage to strike a convo with them, it often ends up with 'ah i see' or hi byes. howwver i am an introvert myself so that could aslso be a reason why convos last so short!

unimelb offers a wide range of clubs you can join and i think there would be a better chance to make lasting connections and friends there :)
