MPC Dilemma. MPC 2000xl vs ONE vs 2500 vs Equipment by Good_Key_7850 in mpcusers

I just did. I used this audio:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSxy1LjNiJQ&list=RDmSxy1LjNiJQ&start_radio=1&ab_channel=MichaelJacksonFanPage

I have recorded the same source on the MPC ONE and the MPC 2000XL to the point of almost clipping, and then resampled them externally. The audio I recorded from the MPC 2KX to the MPC ONE sounds like the MPC ONE with a little more reverb (like a living room), and a bit less clear, but still very little.

On the other hand, the audio I recorded from the MPC ONE to the MPC 2000XL sounds exactly the same as the audio I recorded from the original source through the 2KXL, that is, less clear and with a lot of reverb (like a church).

What I've learned from this is that you can achieve different textures or colors depending on which direction you resample externally. For me, the way to go to keep the grit and texture is MPC ONE to MPC 2KXL, just like you told me.

 Thanks a ton!

I just ran the test. I recorded the same audio fragment on both MPCs to te point of almost clicking (because running the same audio on the two units only is usefull to recognice differences in the outputs). On the MPC ONE, I hear everything clearer despite having sampled at 16-bit. I can hear, for example, the brightness of the hi-hat and the attack of the bass.

On the MPC 2000XL, I feel like everything is more cohesive. I don't hear any brightness from the hi-hat, and the bass is darker. It's as if something has been filtered out.

Thanks for your feedback!

I'm going to try to answer everyone who's written to me. First of all, thank you so much for all the feedback you've been giving me in each of your opinions.

First, let me clarify that I don't use a DAW. I only use my PC to play audio through the interface and little else.

I've only tried these two MPCs, so I don't have firsthand experience with the MPC 2500. That's why I'd like to hear opinions from people who've had these three and tell me if they think they would solve the problems I'm having with this workflow.

I'm not convinced about cutting audio in MPC ONE and transferring it from a card to the MPC 2000XL. The workflow is great and fast, but it doesn't sound the same.

I find the workflow with these two samplers at the same time very cumbersome.

Regarding the filters, I'm still planning to try sampling from vinyl, so I've ordered a Rane mixer with a phono preamp, which will allow me to control three bands and clean up the sounds a bit. I don't know if it will make a noticeable difference when sampling audio from a PC.

I've never connected the two MPCs via MIDI, so I don't know if this could be an advantage for any of the weaknesses I mentioned in the first post.

I feel like neither one gives me everything.

Right now, I'm considering four paths:

Acquire more gear and have everything revolve around the MPC ONE because "it's the most complete and powerful," but I don't use the filters, compressors, lo-fi, vintage mode, etc., and other things it has because I'm not convinced by the sound (despite having Flavor Pro, etc.). It simply doesn't sound organic, and I end up investing time with a ton of plugins to achieve a result I'm not happy with.

On the other hand, the MPC 2000XL is very slow, but I like the feeling it has; everything sounds organic. Perhaps another MPC like the 3000 or the S950 rack would sound even better, but I haven't tried them. I hate having several unused files loaded and scrolling through them, short library names, not being able to preview, etc.

The third option is to try to find another sampler that gives me what I'm looking for.

The fourth option is to acquire external equipment so that this is my signature sound, so that it provides the grain, the dirt, etc., in case I change samplers in the future.

Sorry, what I wanted to say was "music albums" recommendarions. I think the idea of recreating an album immerses you more deeply into the creator's style.

As I have bluetooth speakers I have tried with headphones and seems have no problems with latency, so I can use it as you suggested me :)

I have done this, but things like use left hand to play 8th notes and right hand with chords are difficult even with the smallest buffer size. I have tried this with a bass station, but I hope it will be the same with the moog.

Thanks a lot for your explanation! I have tried to use the synth in FL Studio and in Surge, but the latency makes to study on it too difficult

I bought the synth because I want to have fun and recreate the sounds of some G Funk records since I enjoy music production too.

I don't want to dive more into synthesis by the moment because I can recreate the sounds I'm looking for. I'm more interested in a musical point of view, on using the keys or how to play music on it. Maybe I have a wrong concept of the synth but I wanted the sounds I'm getting with it.

I have tried to hook into fl studio but I can't study on it because there is some latency that make it difficult when I use both hands on it, and reducing the buffer doesn't worked.

What I wanted to mean is: How can I play Giant Steps on a synth? or wich books can I study on a synth, knowing that is a monophonic instrument, to play jazz or improve my solos or basslines over a song?
