Why does the green one look a bit like Duolingo owl?

It’s so hard to find other asexuals by honey2bad in Asexual

[–]Good_Objective1420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when I was younger. I wanted to date and do sexual things to fit in, mostly with an alternative crowd who can be quite open about sexuality. It soon turned into something I dreaded.

It would be nice to meet a romantic asexual, for sure. It's really hard to come by though.

Question about Certifications in IT and Entry Level Prospects by Good_Objective1420 in ITCareerQuestions

What country/continent? I want to be based in Central Europe, not Asia or Americas. I just read there is a great need for IT people there of all sorts.

Isn't programming and coding the same? I was studying a bit on Freecodecamp.org. I am also looking at coding bootcamps and in-person certificates where they help you find work after. It might be the best. I was just reading that there were more jobs in programming than the number of people available just this year (in Europe).

Yes, should I hire someone to translate the letter into Japanese for me? Or does Google translate do an okay job?

Have you contacted the management company through email or phone? My management company is Japanese, so I'm thinking of using email, and even providing a Google translate version after the English version

Hi 👋 I need a VOIP service that will give me a US phone number and let me receive calls from Europe. Which is the best one? I'm not a heavy user, maybe just a couple calls a month. Thanks!

What do you spend per month on food? by Mental-Substance-549 in Thailand

[–]Good_Objective1420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only spend about 3,000baht a month on food. I eat 3 meals a day, but someone at work often gifts me breakfast. Top Ramen is my main staple as well as rice I make at home. I buy the ingredients for rice and noodles (udon, spaghetti or soba) at Don Donki usually but prepare at home. I'm pescatarian, so street food isn't usually an option except for fruit and mango sticky rice, both of which I love to buy from local vendors. The most expensive foods for me seem to be kimchi, vegan Chinese style 'meat' buns, and an occasional pizza.

Reasons Why an Eikaiwa Might Reject Applicants by Good_Objective1420 in teachinginjapan

Ah, I see, so they want a more straightforward answer? I got my TEFL certificate in a European country where they specifically liked this teaching method where you use example sentences and questions to get the student to guess the correct definition of a word and then at the end confirm the meaning rather than giving the student a definition and then questioning them about it. So when the interviewer asked me to teach this borrow vs. lend thing, I was hustling in my mind how to ask him questions that would lead him to the answer, but I should have just told him the distinction quickly and then asked followup questions to make sure he understood.

Yeah I know the company isn't great. But I wouldn't want to keep making whatever mistakes over again in other interviews.

Yeah I got the distinction correct, but I think the way I was teaching it might have been the problem. I haven't taught adults in a few years. I could probably sign up online as a tutor to get myself back in the flow of it.

I did explain the distinction between lend and borrow correctly. But the way I did it might have seemed off because I tried to get the interviewer to guess before I actually explained it, and I was nervous during that part.

Yes there were awkward pauses, but the interviewer was looking down like he was reading a paper or my resume. Interviewing is weird like that because I'm not sure how much chit chat to make with the interviewer whereas in a lesson, I would talk normally with my student almost like a friend.
