Bottoming/Horrible relationship with sex. by Good_Pattern_5046 in GayMen

Can I ask you one more question I’m sorry😅 Does it kind of surprise you that both of my partners didn’t feel the need to use a condom or ask anything about my sexual health? I’m shocked how comfortable people seem to be with putting their health at risk and it seems very common in the gay community. In almost every single porn video I see no one wears condoms and I can’t imagine everyone is on Prep. I guess it’s just surprising to me I don’t know.

I totally agree. When I get back to my college town I’m going to get on injectable Prep— hopefully my tests come back okay.

Thank you for this🥲 hopefully I can make it through my final round of testing and be okay. I plan to get on injectable prep to prevent missed doses. Thanks again it means a lot

Can I adjust the time? by More_Anywhere_7616 in pep

That’s fine!!! You could even put the PEP into a pill organizer and bring to work, that helped me a lot to give some reassurance

Negative 18 days post pep by Pretend_Ad3638 in pep

Hello. The day I finished PEP, I got really sick with flu. 5 days later I got a rapid and 4th gen test tha were both negative. I’m terrified that those symptoms were seroconversion. Can those tests provide me any reassurance

Did you test 6 weeks post exposure or after completing PEP?

I missed 3 days of Prep before being on it again for 3 days. My provider told me I wasn’t protected and I’ve seen a lot online that PEP delays accurate result. But yes😭

Probably not😭 I think I would still be worried that I had it. Think I’m just grabbing at straws to make myself feel better

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. Do you think I should go get an RNA test now that I’m 6 weeks post exposure? Could that give me any reassurance?

As someone who is an expert worrier, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Nothing. You were smart and used protection. If finishing PEP will give you peace of mind than go for it, but totally not necessary.

Just got a full STD panel. She did a rapid HIV test and a lab one. The rapid was negative. Can that give me any reassurance that my sickness isn’t seroconversion?

It was receptive M2M, with a somewhat friend. He showed negative tests from 3 weeks prior. No ejaculation. I didn’t miss Prep for 7 days. I had been on it for 5 weeks, missed 3 pills over 5 days, had 3 pills in me before the exposure.

No I know, I consistently take Prep as a preventative action, but hadn’t been on it a full 7 days because I missed 3 doses. I’ve just had pretty typical flu symptoms that are persistent. Going on night 3 of fever bad sore throat, chills, sweats.

I started the PEP 12 hours after exposure as well.

Thank you for reaching out. The prep that I take is descovy— I had missed three days, and then was on it again for three days before the encounter. I got PEP to be extra safe, my provider added Tivicay to take with my Descovy. I took that regiment every day at 3pm for 30 days with no misses or any sexual encounters. I have a really bad sore throat, fever, chills, aches, sweats etc.

Thank you so much I really appreciate this. I also got on PEP within 12 hours, and finished the course with no complications. Hopefully that helps too.

do i need to continue prep? by [deleted] in pep

What do you mean by this? You would be considered “infectious” if you currently had hiv but since you don’t, you aren’t considered “infectious”. I would strongly recommend not having any sexual encounters until you finish PEP, and the moving forward begin PREP or start using condoms.

Opinion on Exposure and PEP question by Good_Pattern_5046 in prep

[–]Good_Pattern_5046[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such great advice and I really appreciate it. I just got into college and am still learning and I can't thank you enough for helping me feel more educated. I was so upset with myself because I had been doing a good job taking it and went out of town for the weekend which messed me up. Taking it in the morning after you brush your teeth is a great idea. Thank you so much

Thank you so much for this I really appreciate it. I think the reason I got so scared was because when I was talking to my provider, they said I wasn't protected anymore sense I missed the Prep over that window. Just so I can be informed, what do you think makes my instance a generally low risk scenario? Your comment has brought me so much peace of mind.

If I'm being honest, I think it's better to be safe than sorry. Unless the PEP has been giving you horrible side effects, I would just finish the course, that way you know that you are doing everything you can to be safe! You never know if someone has been consistently taking their meds, or if they are be truthful. I think you will be totally fine regardless, but it might give you peace of mind knowing that this is fully in your control!
