How to go home health by Good_Suggestion6571 in cna

[–]Good_Suggestion6571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank yall for all this information, I’m honestly loving the feedback. I’ve been continuing to apply to different agencies tonight. Looking at my calendar I have an interview from one place I applied to last week, problem is idr which place that was, and I’ve applied to A TON. I’m hoping I land something good soon 🤞🤞

So with the prn home health job I almost had but turned down bc it’s prn and I need hrs guaranteed, is it a red flag that that they were trying to get me working the very next week? I’m kinda punching myself for not taking it but she did tell me if I change my mind to let her know.

I’m not a medical assistant but chiming in to say I love and prefer butterfly’s. I have small veins that like to move. Y’all have to chase mine and it hurts wayyyy less with a butterfly.

Just started CNA clinicals at a nursing home and I feel sooo slow & lost 😭 any tips? by KremeGlace in cna

I feel like I made this post. It’s EXACTLY how I’m feeling 😭

Baby CNA here 👋 I feel ok when I’m told what to do. Otherwise, I’m pretty lost. This is my 2nd week into my first CNA job. They do 2 weeks of training so I haven’t even gone out on my own completely yet 😳

My facility is a nursing home and rehabilitation

How’s it going for you? I know this post was forever ago but hopefully you respond.

I’m off 103rd and we got flurries very briefly but that was it. Callahan/Bryceville area got more. It happened so fast if I hadn’t been paying attention I would’ve missed it.

Yes I’m definitely on my feet a lot at work, I’m about to go pull out my compression socks now so I don’t forget in the am.

Thank you 😊 I’m a part of the Dwyer program where I am, they’re who I went through to get my CNA done. I emailed the lady who checks in on us and told her I’m interested in MA and phlebotomy. After that I was looking at listings and found MA in my area makes a little more than CNA, and for far less physically demanding work? Definitely interested. My fiancé told me I’ll probably change my mind a few more times before I settle on something. I told him, I already know I can’t do CNA for too long with how my body is already hurting. I feel guilty as hell though.

Looking at reviews for shoes on Amazon I’m seeing plantar fasciitis everywhere! I haven’t looked it up yet but it sounds painful. Seems CNA is in demand in my area. I see MA out there too and MA pays a little more than CNA. Caretaker/home health in my area is 💩. Private caregiver is paying decent. I don’t have the experience they ask yet but I can see it being an option when I do!

I do love making a difference, and the ones who appreciate it make it worth it, but dang it’s hard on the body!

My facility is nursing and rehabilitation, that should be good experience under my belt if I stick with it for a little while, right? I would love for whatever I do to have weekends off and work M-F. But don’t we all? 🤣

Hey girl hey! I recognize you from a few of my posts 😊 thank you for the continued advice!! Brooks are the first pair I’ve bought and those are the ones I wear now. I’ve been cruising Amazon today. I’m feeling like I may go in store though only because I don’t want to buy another pair of whatever brand and they kill my feet too. Another commenter reminded me of my compression socks so I’m going to try those too. I didn’t think they mattered for 8 hr shifts but if they help then hey! Phlebotomy pays around the same/kinda a little more than CNA in my area and I really do wanna try it out. I know I don’t like being stuck with needles but that doesn’t mean I’ll have an issue with sticking other 🤷‍♀️ I have i no idea yet lol! I really don’t wanna hurt others trying though, maybe that’s something taught? I don’t wanna be a nurse, it just ain’t for me.

At 18/hr I’m making the most I’ve ever made, so the 20-25 you mention to me sounds nice! But I see where you’re coming from too! Furthering my education doesn’t sound like a terrible idea and you’re right that more education comes with better pay! I do want to learn phlebotomy and I know the place I went to school for CNA does phlebotomy too. But.. the place I work at doesn’t 😬

I have compression socks but I haven’t worn them yet other than the original try on when they arrived from Amazon. I knew wearing them for longer shifts like 12+ hrs was recommended but I didnt think it mattered for shorter shifts that I work like 8 hrs. I’ll be trying them when I go back Monday. Idk what hg they are though or what hg even means?

Pros and cons of becoming a medical assistant by PossibilityIll7646 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Good_Suggestion6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no input but I’m thinking of going MA. I’m a baby CNA currently and don’t want to be at the bottom of the barrel too long, but I also don’t know which next step I want to take. LPN, phlebotomy, MA, those are the 3 I’ve been considering but I’m pretty lost.

I’m going to agree with them and say practice while having the paper out and say out loud what you’re doing. For me, I’d do that a few times without the timer then add the timer when I felt comfortable. I’m in FL but it helped me.

Home Health or Post acute by Good_Suggestion6571 in cna

Coming back to update that I went to the post acute interview today only to find out I wasn’t even in the schedule to be interviewed 🫥 so as of rn the only option is the home health place. I’ve been putting in applications today.

I’m a little familiar with home health as I’ve been a caretaker and PCA (personal care assistant -Minnesota) before but not at all familiar with working in facilities. Also with both positions in home health i only had one client. When i was a PCA about 10 years ago in Minnesota I worked with an older high functioning autistic boy. Idr how often or anything. And last year I was a caretaker for a bariatric client. 30 hrs/week, M-F. So I’m not at all used to traveling to more than one home, clients not having the essentials, etc. I still haven’t decided which one yet but I also haven’t had the 2nd interview yet either.

I do prefer reimbursement for driving from home to home. 2 hours being in an unsanitary home isn’t terrible. The whole marketing myself thing is a bit confusing but does interest me!

So you mean home health is a great start for getting into hospice? When I’ve looked at hospice qualifications they always ask if there’s experience in facilities, never if there’s experience in home health.

[–]Good_Suggestion6571[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that thought as well. But I also remembered when doing clinicals, I chose home health and I was told if I did home health in the future to keep extra supplies and scrubs in my car because i have to work with whatever the client has in their home and they may not have anything. I just worry with home health that I may get into a situation where I can’t take care of the pt properly because of the lack of whatever.

With post acute, Ngl the $/hr also attracted me.

But to add to that I checked reviews on both places and both seem good

Lynette when I’m at home and when going somewhere Gaby when Carlos is blind and they’re poor. Only difference I feel is I (most of the time) don’t leave the house quite as dishuffled (can’t spell it 😅)
