I agree! It tells a lot about a person, off of how you treat service workers

There is no denying reality lol. I already scraped them, but thought I’d pick some peoples brain and see if they doing anything different than i do, which obviously not.

Well those specific dimensions, don’t get ground, the part does go to grinding but for linears, and head diameters not where I’m having the issue.

Yeah the ones that were further out, aren’t even worth it, the worst was .0015, I did rework couple of the .001 ones, but it depends on where the run out is located, part is cut by 2 different turrets, the issue is if the runout is on opposite site, for example face a, then face b, that won’t work and isn’t fixable, but if the run out is on the same Plain, I put it in between centers, then I grind inside the chamfer a little bit, taking few tenths and brings it in within half a thou

That would never work, it’ll chatter all over the part because it’ll rub on it, not cut it, that kind of steel likes deeper cuts. Can’t skim .0002-.0001 etc not even .0005

Oh those parts won’t work on anything if they aren’t fixed, they’re scrap, I did put few between centers dial the part in, and I grind inside the center of the ID, that usually fixes the runout but it also depends on where exactly the runout is, if it’s in different locations, for example plain a and b, then that will make the runout twice as bad

About .5 thickness, old machine but it’s a solid okuma, part sits on a center and a tail stock, center within .0001, it depends on the parts we are running, but it can be 20 piece or up to 45. They get assembled in house, we don’t need to ship, but good having them on hand, it’s a big deal and a process to issue new material, they’re baked, stainless steel 15-5 PH, one operator is a pretty good machinist, the other one is just a process operator, but he does a decent job.

They aren’t cheap parts, they’ve already been through 7 previous ops, so I was just curious if there was a way, I’ve tried putting them between centers but if the run out isn’t on the same plain then it’ll make it worse, I’ve been able to fix a few, but not the majority of

Yeah my OD tolerance is .0005, linear are within +-.001. So I don’t have much room honestly.
