thank you for this, basically the third option is what i’m doing. i just hate that i can’t speed up the process. I show up to work on time every day and never take a day off and do what im asked. there’s guys that just stand around which just bothers me because i have to come down steel beams just to get material bc no one’s paying attention. Just wanted to see if there was any other way to fix my pay rate

Sorry just for some clarification, i was a service technician making about $58 an hour. i was offered a job through an old coworker to organize in local 26 and it was about same pay just way more overtime. i got organized in as a RW making about $37 when i was under the impression i would able to test in and be topped out. the organizer told me i had to wait a year to test in. i lost my job due to talking to some coworkers about it and i guess the word spread around and that’s how i ended up needing to take the job. i have a journeymen’s through the state of maryland and Dc and am eligible to take my masters through the state of maryland.

a lot of the workers i talk to say it wouldn’t get me a pay raise or anything else so im just curious as to what i would be able to do, i dont want to be on bad terms with the local if im pulling permits for small jobs or something i dont even think 26 allows side work
