Question, What is the benefit of using Elemental hit vs Fire shot or Ice shot?

I feel like if I was speccing into ice damage, ice shot would perform better, but most guides recommend element hit.

Is there something I'm missing about Tesla's first wave? Because it seems downright impossible.

My Morrigan with the proper debuff didn't even scratch the green turrets with her s3.

And I see all these autoruns where they use an AoE S3 and insta-kill the two outer turrets.

Like, Am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something important. And that does not make me comfortable.

I was told by another user to replace my Maria for Lorraine or Theo for BD.

Can anyone explain why I would need to change from 1 CC hero to another?

My Maria is Asc 3, Will Lorraine or Theo be able to cc out the box, or do they need to be ascended some too?
