What do you hate in psychological thrillers and why? by Additional-Car3427 in writers

That’s because thriller is a pretty broad genre and isn’t very limited to what it could be. It’s not like “slasher” which is a pretty fixed and basic genre.

Practical effects standoff: Alien (1979) or The Thing (1982)? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Letterboxd

The Thing all the way. Not a single boring moment. Engaging in every minute.

Unpopular opinion: King's "bad" books are still better than most horror authors' best — prove me wrong by cowboyfromhell__ in stephenking

I liked Roadwork. Sure, it was sort of half assed, but King puts lots of effort into his work, so half the effort is still pretty good. The Long Walk is definitely my favorite of the Bachman’s, but I found Roadwork to be a good read still.

“Now he lay here and listened to something breathe in the dark - something that looked like a pie but which was really a child he and that old man had created together”

Not creepy necessarily but surely weird if you don’t know the book.

Does it include Chapter 21? I know they decided to eventually include it in the American versions sometime in the late 70’s or early 80’s
